We are beyond sad to let you know our sweet Truvy crossed over the rainbow bridge this morning.
Truvy was our heart horse. When we rescued her she was missing hair, back teeth, and was skin and bones. At the time we weren’t sure if she would make it but we could at least provide a good home for her.
Her name was Truly when we got her, we changed it to Truvy Jones after Dolly Parton”s character in Steel Magnolias. Truvy lived up to her name, and through her own perseverance gained 350 pounds, put on much needed muscle, and flourished in the Kids Rein program. She was a favorite among our girls, her white appearance made them feel like princesses and her stubbornness forced our most advanced riders to learn how to use reins and queues correctly. She continued to flourish at Kids Rein for five years. Living well beyond the typical life span of a Percheron. She loved everyone at Kids Rein, and we loved her.
Run free sweet girl. Prophet, Tigo, and Magic are there to guide you!
Last ride for 2023 was great! Thank you so much to all of our parents, volunteers, staff, and therapy horses, and especially our riders! It takes a village.
Sadly, today we said goodbye to Blue Eyed “Magic”. Our boy suffered a leg injury about a week and a half ago with an untenable long term prognosis. Due to the break, he would never be the same horse and would not be able to run, which is the point at which we had to make the toughest decision as horse parents. We had to let him go. Magic joined the herd in March 2020 and was the easiest herd integration and started his career as a therapy horse quickly after arrival at the farm. He soon formed an amorous relationship with Molly Brown, our spotted draft and largest horse. Let’s just say he overcame some height obstacles to solidify his love for her! Magic was a very special and spiritual part of our program because he could keep calm even with the all the loud noises, sudden physical outbursts, and riders that tried to bail. Magic grew to become very affectionate, especially with all of us humans. Our riders and staff loved him and his kisses every morning will be sorely missed. Our hearts hurt right now. This wasn’t planned and not what we imagined for his life with us. But we know we did the right thing for him, even though it feels terrible. We love you, Magico. Run free and rest easy, my friend.

Jameson and the boss lady yesterday. He did so well!
Herd Integration Day 11 - The mares are still in season so we’ve decided to split the herd until that’s done with. Today was relatively peaceful. The boys are spending the night together. Hoping for the best.
Day 8
Sorry no video from Day 8. We decided Jameson was ready to have a pasture buddy so Truvy joined him. He’s soooo happy!! Everyone is in the barn for the night. Hopefully he will lay down to sleep tonight.
Happy Gotcha Day little ladies!!!
Today was a “first” at the farm for Jameson getting his feet done. He was very patient and kept his cool even with all of the new sights and sounds. Our farrier said he’s got “great feet” and agrees that he has a lot of potential. Stay tuned for herd integration!!
