Our Story

Professional makeup artist, Ashlee Rice, was born and raised in Dallas, TX, and has 20 years of experience in the beauty industry. Her love of makeup and all things that glitter began as a competitive figure skater at the age of 4. She attended college prep boarding school all 4 years of high school outside Kansas City. She was a theater major at the historic William Inge theater school in Independence, Kansas, where courses in Stage Makeup, really blossomed into the desire to become a makeup artist. Ashlee has traveled as a regional makeup artist for such lines as Lancome and Estee Lauder working alongside and promoting National Makeup Artist events in the DFW area and North to West Texas. She worked in Trademarks, research and product development for TIGI Bed Head haircare and cosmetics, learning how to make the most innovative hair products of that time. She also was given the job of designing TIGI’s limited edition makeup collections. After moving west, she was the onsite makeup artist for Julian Gold, a high end women’s boutique in West Texas, and drove sales using lines such as Paula Dorf, Darphin, La Prairie, Lancôme, and Jane Iredale. In 2008 she launched her very own premier makeup studio, Let’s Face It, in Midland, TX, with a primary focus on using only non-toxic makeup and skincare by launching Jane Iredale makeup and Juice Beauty skincare in her location. In 2009 the MRT featured Ashlee and her fantasy makeup for Halloween on the cover of their Lifestyles section. In 2012, her underwater makeup was featured at an Allure magazine event for Jane Iredale in NYC. Ashlee then made it to the top 5 for RAW Makeup Artist of the Year Austin, TX 2013, and had an awesome runway show at The Belmont.

Since, then, she has been awarded the 2014, 2015, and 2016 Best of Weddings by the Knot. Her makeup has been in broadcast and commerical work on national television broadcast series such as for Tracy Smith on 48 Hours and other true crime reporters. Ashlee was also the assistant MUA to the famous makeup artist Kandy Glass for Austin Fashion Week designers and Project Runway All-Star night 2015. Her makeup work has been used and featured for bridal editorials with Kayla Barker, Style Me Pretty, My Weddings Texas and The Knot. She has worked with recording artists such as Le Sorelle and Abi Music. She was also asked to judge the historic Golden Girl Pageant in Pecos, TX (home of the first rodeo) in 2016.

Ashlee specializes in fun fantasy costume design and makeup year around with innovative ideas such as her famous “Grinch” costumes for many clients, as well as, designing underwater shoots that have been used for advertising purposes. One of her dark glam Halloween looks was featured by Pop Sugar Australia as a top 17 scary costume look for women in 2017. She has been featured in news articles, and media outlets multiple times over the last decade featuring beauty tips and even and awesome story on “underwater mermaid” photoshoots with Steven Tippett. Recently, she taught a special fx makeup workshops to the Lee High School Production Drama Team.

She is currently the West Texas regional makeup artist for Jane Iredale the skincare makeup, and also sells the pharmaceutical grade mineral line in her makeup studio. She is an Artisan Affiliate for the luxury brand Artis Brush patented professional makeup brushes. She specializes in makeup for bridal, bo***ir, fantasy, underwater, special occasion, fashion, editorial, HD broadcast, and Halloween special fx/costuming makeup, art direction/design for photo shoots, and is even self taught at hand painted body art. She works with international photographers, and currently travels to Atlanta for couture designer Dianaira’s fall and spring collections. She also serves as the preferred makeup artist for the historic Gage Hotel. In 2019 she joined JK Dance Center as the new Assistant Creative Director along side celebrity dancer Kelsey Bourg Tanner designing costumes, makeup, ad campaigns and stage sets. Ashlee continues to travel for destination projects and weddings and work with her base of clients in West Texas teaching women how to wear healthy makeup.
