A Grand Opening Play Day! to celebrate the new Phase 2 of Community Park (3601 S. 14th St.) is set for Saturday, March 26th from 3 to 9 p.m. Guests will get a chance to try out all the park's amenities, enjoy refreshments, and take in a concert. At 6 p.m. the park's new amphitheater will be dedicated to the memory of late City Councilman Art Pierard, to be followed by a family-friendly concert and a fireworks show. This free event is made possible by a grant from the Midlothian Community Development Corporation. Due to weather, MISD will release early Wednesday, February 23. Elementary students will be released at 1:30 p.m., and secondary students will be dismissed at 2:15 p.m. All after-school activities are canceled today. MISD is also canceling school for Thursday, February 24.

Be careful if you have to get out on the roads today!

ROAD CONDITIONS as of 8:00 AM:
The men and women of MPD are out and about this morning. The intercity roads are still iced over and very slippery. The highways have been treated, but remain treacherous, especially on bridges and overpasses. We recommend you stay inside again this morning, but if you must drive, please do so at slow speeds and allow yourself plenty of distance to brake.

It's going to get cold tonight! Get your grocery shopping done today and try and stay off the roads tomorrow. I hope everyone stays warm and cozy!!
