Traditional Okinawan Martial Arts Traditionally, in Okinawa, karate was more than a spare time activity left behind at the academy door.
It touched the very essence of the people who studied it, changing the way they thought, the way they felt about themselves, the way they interacted with other people, and in fact, deeply permeated their lives. Much of that has been lost. In modern America, karate has become a sport rather than an art; its influence is the same as any other athletic endeavor. It has lost everything but its physical facets. Traditional instruction is still available!

SCHEDULE INFORMATION
Adult Weapons Class was moved to Sunday, March 22 (due to the Parade this past Sunday) from 10:00 am - 12 noon. Fee is $25.
Children's Weapons Class will be on Sunday, March 29 from 10:00 am - 11:30 am. Fee is $10 in advance/$15 at the door.
Adult Students - no class tonight, Thursday, March 5 - you shouldn't be out driving in this weather. Stay home, stay safe, shovel your drive and walk ways if you need to "train".

Halloween in Japan The Japanese have adopted many Western customs (Christmas, Valentine's Day etc.). Since Halloween was not widely known when I was little, I didn't have any Halloween experiences in my childhood.

Hanshi would like to remind all students that with the change of seasons it is now time to wear full Student Gi to class. For most students that means white gi top and white gi pants.
If you do not have a school patch please see Colleen at the dojo to purchase one. Also, if you would like the Uchi Te Ryu exclusive embroidery design added to your gi see Colleen.
Reminder - Weapons Seminar on the 3rd Sunday of every month. Next training is Sunday, October 19 from 10am - noon. $25 at the door. All Welcome.

Welcome Summer! Hanshi says you can now wear your Gi pants with a TAKAMINE KARATE DOJO T-shirt to class. You can wear the white or black shirt. If you don't have a school "T" you can purchase one the next time you come to class!
