Every year in JRNY Youth we take the time to do a series called: Love, S*x, & Dating. During this series we will be asking and discussing questions like, “What is Love?”, “Is S*x before Marriage ok?”, “Is it ok to look at Pornography?”, “What does good dating look like?”. We understand that theses topics are more sensitive than others and some parents might not be comfortable with there students hearing some of this.

We wanted to keep you updated on what we were discussing on Wednesday nights. During February we will be bringing up the questions above. If you do not feel comfortable with your student hearing this then they will need to be with you for the next few Wednesday nights.

Though we cannot make this decision for you, we would like to encourage you to allow your students to be apart of these next few Wednesday nights. Working with Youth over the last 9 years and taking a look at our culture today, these topics are things being talked about well before students enter middle school. I believe the church should be the best place to discuss these topics. It is a safer place to talk and they will hear what God says on these issues, not what their friends think is right.

As well we want to help you, the parent, have an area to bring up these conversations with your student(s). These topics can be hard to discuss, but they are apart of life and shouldn’t be over looked. So our intention with speaking on this is to “break the ice” on the subject to give you the opportunity to have a conversation about it with your student(s). [If you would like, I can email you my notes after Wednesdays so you know exactly what was spoken to your student to better start conversation]

Youth Convention money is due this Sunday! Convention is an incredible time where students from across the state of Tennessee come together for two days to encounter the Lord. This event takes place every year at the Opryland Convention Center in Nashville, TN. It is a powerful time and also a fun time for students to hang out and get to know one another more! If you have any questions ask below!

Tomorrow night is the best night of the week!! And to celebrate Takeover Sunday’s success we have free pizza for you to chow down on pre-service! So invite a friend as we continue on speaking on the Holy Spirit and see y’all there!
