Today we are highlighting Dr. Julie Talano, Professor of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Medical Director of the Blood and Marrow Transplant program at Children's Wisconsin. Dr. Talano states that her favorite thing about working in the MACC Fund Center is "the patients and families that we serve and our amazing MACC Fund Center team."

Donating blood is a powerful way to give back to the community. Individuals with (SCD) often require routine blood transfusions to manage pain, prevent complications and maintain their quality of life. Matching blood types within the same ethnic group is crucial for successful transfusions. By donating blood, you can help ensure that those with have the life-saving support they need. MACC Fund Center patients and families are invited to join us for the Hyundai Hope On Wheels Handprint Ceremony - beginning tomorrow at 10 AM!
Hyundai is donating $100,000 to support cancer research within our program. Please join us tomorrow (Thursday, August 22nd). If driving in, please meet near the Craig Yabuki Tower entrance coming in from the 3rd floor of the parking garage. If you are already on site for a clinic or day hospital visit, you can meet in the West Tower Plaza. We look forward to seeing you there!

Hyundai Hope On Wheels will be presenting the MACC Fund Center at Children's Wisconsin with a $100,000 grant to support cancer research efforts!
MACC Fund Center patients and families are welcome to join us on Thursday, August 22nd from 10 to 10:45 for a brief ceremony, after which patients will be able to put their handprint in paint on a car. We will be greeting families at the Craig Yabuki Tower entrance or families already present for clinic visits can meet near the West Tower plaza. We look forward to seeing you there!

We’re urgently seeking 3,500 donors. With less than a day's supply of blood available for local hospitals, patients’ lives could be endangered. With this increased need, first time blood donors are desperately needed. While we plan for a challenging time for blood donation every summer, what we see today is dire. ⭐ We are thrilled to announce that the Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative just released its first ever Childhood Cancer Action Plan, a significant step forward for the state of Wisconsin! We are so grateful to see childhood cancer be prioritized in our state and are moved by the real hope this action plan will offer families when people, institutions, and organizations throughout our state take ownership of the part they can play in the fight against childhood cancer.

It has received feedback from national and local organizations involved with childhood cancer work and the Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative Steering Committee.

Meet Mimi, a true warrior who faced a high-risk pregnancy while pursuing her law degree. Despite living with (SCD), Mimi completed her final exams, welcomed twins, and graduated from Emory University School of Law. Her journey highlights the importance of specialized care for women with SCD during pregnancy. With strength and determination, she navigated the challenges and now shares her story to inspire others.
