Exciting News About Our Sweet Dash!

We have the cutest little update on our darling Dash! 🐱❤️ After lots of love and care, Dash’s doctors took a special CT scan of his adorable head, which gave them a good look at his sinus issues. They even took some little samples to make sure they knew exactly what was going on. The results? Dash has been diagnosed with "Chronic Rhinitis," a condition that means his nose can get inflamed and cause ongoing sniffles. While there’s no cure, we can manage his symptoms and keep him feeling comfy.

Dash has been such a brave boy through all of this! He gets his nose drops daily and handles them like a little hero. He also takes an antibiotic twice a week and might need some other meds like steroids in the future. His treatment plan is easy to follow, and we know his new family will have no trouble keeping up with it. Dash’s dedication to his health is just one more reason to fall in love with him!

We are so thankful that Santana found his forever home! Especially considering the rough road it took to get to this happy ending:

Santana was originally part of a TNRM (Trap, Neuter, Release, Monitor) project. During the "monitor" phase, it was reported that he was showing signs that he may have been poisoned. Upon checking bloodwork, it was confirmed to be true. This sweet little fighter went through 3 weeks of Vitamin K therapy to get his blood back to normal clotting. Amongst all the chaos, Santana showed that he was the most loving & trusting kitty, and was deemed the perfect patient by all his doctors 🙂

This boy is off to the life he deserves!! Santana, enjoy your days of playing in the sunshine & watching out the windows for birds! 🐱❤️

Congrats to Tootsie on his adoption!

This poor guy was originally found outside as a stray in winter. He had injuries that caused him to lose a little bit of his tail, but luckily he healed up great!

He is shy, curious, silly & affectionate - of course his new mama is in love with him already!! 🐱❤️

Sheba was adopted!!

This fan favorite is known for being a little spicy but she warms up to people quickly 🐱❤️

Can you believe she was a mother & grandmother before she turned 2 years old?! Thankfully now she is fixed so those days are over – we are happy to see her off to her forever home to enjoy her freedom & independence!

Exciting news - we are fresh out of kitties at the shelter! They have now all gone to their furever homes. 🏠

We anticipate more kitties coming this weekend, so until then, our shelter will remain closed 🔐.

We plan to reopen on Sunday, May 26 with a fresh group of adoptable cats so make sure to stop by and meet them then! 😻

While it’s true that Kanga is the only adoptable kitty left at the shelter, she has enough cuteness and personality to go around. She would LOVE to have some visitors. We’re open tonight from 6 pm - 8 pm.

Ronnie looks like a whole new kitty - can you believe these pictures?? He completed his 12 weeks of daily injections & was approved for the 12 week observation period. During the next several weeks, he will continue to be monitored daily for any changes in his vitals or behavior. So far, he is doing wonderful! He is very playful, affectionate and feeling great!! 🧡😺

Well, Almost Home Cat Rescue MKE has the solution to that! Become a FOSTER! 😻

By opening your home to fostering an animal, you become the steppingstone to saving lives. Fostering is a critical piece to our rescue as these homes help us give a safe place for surrendered, sick, and abused cats until they are ready to be adopted or transferred to our facility.

Kitten season is around the corner and we are in CRITICAL need of available homes that can foster cats and kittens currently on our surrender list. Without these homes we cannot continue to do what we do. Almost Home is a free roam cage free facility, so all of our kitties need to begin their journey in a foster home until they are medically cleared and temperament tested.

Almost Home will provide the following to every foster:

🐾 all supplies- food, toys, beds, litter, litter pan and everything you need
🐾 we will match the kitties to the foster home want or level of experience ( senior only, kittens, adult, pregnant mom/kittens, medical)
🐾 we will schedule all vet appointments we just ask that you take the cats to our designated vet clinic
🐾 you will have access to our Medical Officer and Animal Welfare Officer for medical and behavioral questions or concerns
🐾 you can foster short term, long term or on an emergency
