Someone in my Women In Lutherie group recently had her tools stolen. Sharing her message here in the hopes someone I know comes across anything. It's incredibly distressing to lose your tools.

April 28 I had a black roller laptop case stolen from an Amtrak train. Inside the case were the virtually all tools I use as luthier. The tools include lots of antique/unusual tools. If you see any of these suspiciously popping up for sale in the Chicago area, please contact me!
Grobet Swiss cut precision files (possible in a clear craft tote)
Lie Nielsen block plane
A black leather roll with knives and chisels that have handmade handles
Silk and Kevlar spools and cards of thread in many colors
Digital calipers, digital scale
A clear craft tote with dental picks, needle files.
A bright purple zipper makeup bag with small cuts of wood, black leather scraps, silk snd Kevlar thread spools and cards, and blue 3D printed molds and jigs.
Few of these items are high value, but are the work of years and the essential tools of my job. I would be so grateful to anyone spreading the word among fellow woodworkers.

If you've meant to come to one of my concerts this year and haven't, this Saturday is the last one of the season. It's a really good one! American music by Price, Bernstein, Copeland, and Sierra. This has been a challenging and rewarding program to learn and I'm excited to play it this weekend. Saturday at 2! Warner Theater on Wisconsin Ave!

Festival City Symphony ends its Saturday Classics season with a portrait of the diversity of America as presented by four distinct musical voices. Roberto Sierra’s “La Salsa” and Leonard Bernstein’s “Symphonic Dances from West Side Story” will start and end the program, energizing audiences with their Puerto Rican rhythms. In between, works by Florence Price and Aaron Copland convey the trials, tribulations and celebrations of American ancestors in “Ethiopia’s Shadow in America” and “Our Town Suite”. Concert goers will be tapping their toes and riveted by the layered and complex harmonies that make up the fabric of American music.

I was really irritated by that recent car commercial that had kids playing badly and someone seeking shelter from the noise in her car. I'm not saying kids play perfectly by any means, but they try hard, and are brave for ever getting on a stage. They need encouragement, and I don't like making young players the butt of a joke.
