🎶 Our students are learning the English versions of songs and poems composed by the children of Terezin. This is a selection from a children's opera called Brundibar (The Bumblebee) composed by Czech artist Hans Krása. Krása was a leading figure of the cultural life of Terezín. He was an important member of the Czech- and German-speaking artistic community that defined Prague's distinctive cultural life in the first decades of the twentieth century. In Terezín, he reworked "Brundibar" for the children imprisoned there, where it was performed fifty-five times. Krasa was transported to Auschwitz in 1944. He was murdered there, age 45, in October of that year.

We were at Luther Manor today and performed on their chapel stage to a live audience. BUT THEN they live-streamed the performance across campus on their closed-circuit system! Very cool to see our students on TV. Just one more day on our tour, then we can rest, maybe eat a huge donut with sprinkles. 😅

🥹 🤗Hey team - we had a lovely experience with a surprise donor this month. Sean and Molly from the Mars Family Foundation toured our space and met with Harmonie to talk about our mission, our plans and our wonderful students. Do you like theatre games? We use them to teach students cooperation, creativity, trust, collaboration, mental focus, nonverbal communication. Cast and crew play these games together, because - as Harmonie says - "There is no 'star' in theatre: the story is the star." Here's one of our games, Tableau. The assignment was "A medieval battle scene". Enjoy!
