Catch a few glimpses of a scoliosis-specific PT session 👀 Scoliosis is a 3D curvature of the spine, and scoliosis specific exercises (Schroth) are directed at addressing the 3D curves through combinations of spinal elongation, expansion, muscle tension and pressure. The aim of Schroth exercises is to improve posture, aesthetics, breathing, strength and endurance, and pain if present. #physicaltherapy #physiotherapy #schroth #schrothmethod #schroththerapy #scoliosis #scoliosisexercise #scoliosisstrong #scoliosisawareness

The hallmark sign of plantar fasciitis is heel pain on the inner side of the foot that is most noticeable with first steps in the morning or after a period of inactivity. The pain may also worsen after a long period of time on your feet🚶‍♂️ Heel pain can be a real bugger to deal with, but the good news is we have ways to help! Here’s what the evidence best supports: ✅Manual therapy: directed at joints and soft tissues of the leg, foot and ankle ✅Stretching: plantar fascia-specific and calf stretching Taping (not pictured): foot taping for short term improvement in pain and function ✅Night splints (not pictured): for 1-3 months for those with consistent first step morning pain ✅Exercise: resistance training for the foot and ankle muscles ✅Dry needling: to the calf and foot for short- and long-term pain and disability reduction Heel Pain – Plantar Fasciitis: Revision 2023. Chronic Ankle Instability (CAI) can develop as a result of a lateral ankle sprain or repeat sprains that do not fully recover. The hallmark sign of CAI is perceived instability or episodes of “giving way” of the ankle that persist beyond 12 months following the initial injury. If you are dealing with CAI, there are ways to help! Here’s what the literature supports: ✅ Proprioceptive and neuromuscular training (like the exercises in the video) to improve postural stability ✅ Joint mobilizations to improve ankle dorsiflexion (toes to nose) ❌ Ankle bracing IS NOT a stand-alone intervention… let’s get your muscles back to supporting your ankle the way they are meant to 💪 (J Orthop Sports Phys Ther 2021;51(4):159-160. doi:10.2519/jospt.2021.0503) #physicaltherapy #physiotherapy #anklesprain #anklesprainrehab #chronicankleinstability #balancetraining #balance

The single leg deadlift is a great exercise to work on strength of the posterior chain (back, glutes, hamstrings, calves) AND a fantastic way to challenge your dynamic balance. Can you spot (or hear) the difference? Amory has been using the Alter-G treadmill to unload her knee while returning to run, allowing her to build strength, balance, fitness and confidence in her stride 🏃‍♀️ The Alter-G treadmill uses unweighting technology to allowing patients to move unrestricted and pain-free earlier on in their rehab. It can be helpful technology for many conditions or surgical procedures that result in painful or asymmetrical walking or running.
