Marlin 81 DL stock’s first of many linseed oil applications. Why go thru such a slow and arduous process for an old field grade .22? Because, there is little collector value so I am not destroying a rare or valuable piece. So, why not make a 60 plus year old firearm as beautiful as possible and have this rifle passed down for generations. ****ms
Really beautiful piece of walnut hiding underneath all that oxidized varnish. Marlin 81 DL.
It has been a while since I’ve taken the time to post any projects. Have some fun ones coming, e.g., Marlin 81 DL cerca at least 1951 (pictured) and an Underwood Typewriter Co M1 Carbine (haven’t dated it yet). Plus I have the Ansley Fox double barrel that keeps getting pushed to the back of the line. I hope to do a better job posting progress.
PSA: With the current world situation, one half of our two person team is traveling frequently. If you’ve reached out and not heard back, send us a message. We are still accepting work but lead times are impacted.
It was 22 years ago this month I took this one way Class A trip to the deck in Lamu, Kenya. This Huey never flew again.
There are many things that I love about 1911s. One of those things in particular is that a lot of customization is still done by hand. Here we are in the process of hand beveling, dehorning, and flaring the ejection port on a slide.
A nice little PCC. PSA upgraded with a 416SS barrel, trigger, and 3 color custom .
It is messy; it is tedious; it is time consuming; but it is extremely satisfying to see the pits fade away as you strike 116 year old shotgun barrels. Early production, I.e. ,early one thousands serial number Ansley Fox A grade restoration. -restoration
They just don’t make things like they used to. This Ansley Fox shotgun is ~116 years old and its internals demonstrate a resilience of craftsmanship not often seen today. These A grades originally sold for $50 in 1906. I will be restoring this one as I have time.
Playing around with Kydex. I made this mag carrier for myself. It turned out pretty nice so I threw some laser engraving on it.
Rolo the Great Dane pup is wondering why we are just staring at parts.
The Crossbones got some new engraving today. The stock air cleaner is so boring, but it makes for a good canvas. Will get to some more engraving and hand color fill at some point.
Come visit us at the Richmond Raceway Gun Show tomorrow from 9-5. We love to see you. *t
Being a veteran owned business this is a day very dear to our heart. Thank you to all who served and those who supported them at home ❤️ 🇺🇸 Happy Veterans Day
Making some progress on the Cross Bones. Custom cerakote and fiber laser work. *t
We don’t just coat fi****ms. Have a Harley Springer project in the works. Just a teaser here and there; not going to be revealing too much until it gets further along.
An 1885G chambered in 45-70 getting in on the accurizing today. It may not shoot far, but it is going to put them where you’re aiming. ****ms
Scope lapping. A messy but necessary process if you’re wanting to maximize accuracy.
Hand fitting 2011 safeties is on the agenda for today.
Customer sent us some pics of the 6mm ARC we recently completed all setup to take on some predators. *t
Sweet 6mm ARC build. Battle worn in sniper grey and NRA blue Cerakote. The 21” Odin Works 416R barrel is a beast. *t
We spent some time on the range today doing IDPA. Such beautiful weather out there ☀️🍁🍂. Make sure you make time to get out there and enjoy yourself! 🍁
Awesome SBR project just wrapped up and rolled out. Quite a bit of color fill on this on this one. Tungsten, Graphite Black, and Micro Slick.
Some major masking effort going on today in the shop. Can’t wait to see this one finished. Stay tuned. *t
This Kimber is looking better than new with its Blackout Cerakote and rose gold (TiN) controls. *t
Sometimes it’s just about bringing back some beauty.
Check out our Friends at Fast Point Fi****ms.
And then there is The Mutant 👽. Cool KS-4762 project we just wrapped up. Battle worn in zombie green and armor black with small bare metal highlights to give it a true worn look. Topped of with fiber laser engraving. *t
They all don’t need to be flashy camo or odd colors. Here is just a simple sniper grey which contrasts well with black. *t
