Mabeth Hurd Paige is one of the WCA Foundation’s founding mothers. She also founded the Minnesota branch of the League of Women Voters. She sought office because she believed that women should participate more in politics after winning the right to vote.

Thank you to Mabeth Hurd Paige one of many brave women who broke barriers and led the way for women in the legislature.

Thank you WFMN.

Today is marking the amount of additional time in which women on average would need to work to make the same amount as white men did in 2020.

However, we also know that this gap is even greater for BIPOC women. We must work to ensure equal pay is attained for ALL women & communities.

Greater Twin Cities COVID-19 Response & Recovery Fund - Greater Twin Cities United Way 04/09/2020

Grantees and Community Partners please note this unique grant opportunity!

Greater Twin Cities United Way (GTCUW) is an organization that seeks to disrupt inequity and foster a region where all thrive, regardless of income, race and place. Their greatest concern during the COVID-19 crisis is the likelihood of disproportionate impact on those already experiencing the greatest disparities.

To that end, GTCUW invites applications to an open wave of funding made possible through the Greater Twin Cities COVID-19 Response & Recovery Fund. A competitive application for funds will open as of April 8, 2020 and close on April 22, 2020 at 5:00pm.

They invite applications from nonprofit organizations and partnerships that are expanding the reach of current services, and/or finding new and creative ways to carry out services to support their community’s emergency needs in rapid response to COVID-19.

Priority for funding will be toward nonprofits with unique capabilities to serve vulnerable populations. The following types of organizations will receive priority under this grant opportunity:

Organizations that serve 50% or more Black, Indigenous or People of Color (BIPOC). Organizations that serve a high proportion of individuals at 200% poverty or below of the Federal Poverty Level. Organizations with a strong focus on those most vulnerable to COVID-19 as defined by the Center for Disease Control & Prevention: older adults (ages 65+), individuals with asthma, HIV or other severe illness. Small or medium organizations, defined by GTCUW as organizations with an annual budget between $250,000-$3,000,000.

The organization anticipates disbursement of funding before the end of May.

Please visit their website for more details and to apply. gtcuw.org

Thank you for the work you are doing to support our community during this difficult time.

WCA Foundation's Response to Coronavirus 19

Hello Friends,

Starting Monday, March 16th, 2020, the WCA Foundation office will be closed and staff will work remotely through April 13. At that time leadership will discuss returning to full operations. All meetings during this time are cancelled and will be rescheduled for a later date.

While site visits and in-person meetings will be postponed, staff is available by email (preferred) and phone. If you are a grantee with a scheduled visit or presentation, the office will be in touch to discuss next steps.

Our May 1st deadline is still in place and we are currently accepting grant applications online via www.wcafoundation.org.

Lastly, we feel confident that these uncertain times will call on our better angels. Asking us to acknowledge that the world is inextricably connected, and to take care of each other.
