What an amazing journey and accomplishment!
Deputy Olson and K9 Buffy spotted a vehicle and bicycle on US Hwy 2 yesterday and stopped to offer assistance. The two met Cindy Norris Cycleforthekids who explained that she was in the middle of a cross county trek to raise funds for children of fallen heroes through The Special Operations Warrior Foundation. She began her adventure in Washington state and will finish up in Delaware. That is over 4,280 miles on a bicycle! 🚴♀️ Her husband drives the chase vehicle to keep Cindy safe. Upon completion of her journey, Cindy will be the oldest female to bike across America! 🇺🇸 K9 Buffy and Deputy Olson enjoyed meeting new friends and learning about Cindy's passion to help children. For more information visit Cindy's page at Cindy Norris Cycleforthekids. Donations can be made at https://bit.ly/3RukyPq or specialops.org/cycleforthekids

We've had numerous questions regarding our Ranger K9 Trauma Kit and how folks can purchase one for their hunting dog, outdoor adventure partner, or four-legged best friend... We're excited to announce that now you CAN purchase our Ranger K9 Trauma Kit for your dog, thanks to Streicher's.
Proceeds go to Hero K9 when you purchase through Streicher's, making additional grants possible through our general fund. God summoned a beast from the field, and He said, "Behold - man is created in My image. Therefore, adore him.
You shall protect him in the wilderness, shepherd his flocks, watch over his children, accompany him wherever he may go, even into civilization. You shall be his companion, his ally, and his slave.
To do these things, I endow you with the instincts uncommon to other beasts: Faithfulness, Devotion, and Understanding, surpassing those of man himself.
Lest it impair your courage, you shall never foresee your death. Lest it impair your loyalty, you shall be blind to the faults of man. Lest it impair your understanding, you are denied the power of words. Speak to your master only through your mind and your honest eyes.
Walk by his side sleep in his doorway ward off his enemies carry his burden share his affliction love and comfort him. And in return for this, man will fulfill your needs and wants, which shall be only food, shelter and affection.
So be a friend of man. Guide him through the perils along the way to this land I have promised him. This shall be your destiny and your immortality."
The dog heard and was content.

Congrats to this top team! Way to go, St. Croix County Sheriff's Office K9 Teams! 🐾
Today is Peace Officers Memorial Day.
Today, we honor law enforcement officers, human and K9 alike, who have paid the ultimate sacrifice or become fully disabled here at home, just to keep us safe from the terrors within.
GREAT WORK K9 Chase Hibbing PD MN!
Two tracks in a week here for K9 Chase. On 5-14-2022 when Officers tried to stop a vehicle, a passenger with multiple felony warrants in both Minnesota and Wisconsin decided it was time to try and run. The suspect was last seen running down an alley.
Officers we’re set up nearby and K9 Chase was deployed for a track. Chase quickly located the track and tracked through a yard and to the next street where a citizen pointed to the direct the suspect was seen running. Chase quickly reloacted the track and pulled officers again through some houses where the suspect was seen hiding aways away. The suspect saw officers coming their way. A K9 warning was given and the suspect again ran. Being too far away from the suspect to have Chase assist in the apprehension of the suspect we continued to push the male out to perimeter officers and an on duty ARC unit who then placed the suspect under arrest.
Teamwork makes it all possible! The crew was able to work together and get the suspect apprehended. As for the driver of the vehicle? They also went to jail for other charges. In case you were wondering!
Run free over Rainbow Bridge, K9 Wish!
Wish was our first-ever grant recipient and a pioneer Arson K9 in Minnesota. Our thoughts are with Wish’s handler, Jason Maki, the Cloquet Area Fire District, and Wish’s family and friends during this difficult time. 🐾
It is with great sadness we share that the Cloquet Area Fire District had to send our Arson K-9, Wish, over the rainbow bridge on Monday, May 9, 2022 unexpectedly.
Wish was with the CAFD after gaining her certification on May 9th, 2013. She worked over 150 fire scenes in Minnesota and Wisconsin with her handler Jason Maki, Fire/Arson Investigator. She had a strong drive to work, and ability to find accelerants that assisted in multiple arrests that resulted in convictions for arson.
When Wish wasn’t working active fire scenes, she was a huge part in our community. Wish loved going into the local schools as a part of fire prevention and life safety discussions with the kids.
Wish loved what she did and she did it well.
When she wasn’t working, Wish was also a loyal family dog that was loved unconditionally by the Maki family.
Wish was surrounded by the Maki family, her CAFD family, Cloquet PD, Fond Du Lac PD, and the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office for her final send off.
We thank K9 Wish for nine years of dedicated service and she will always be a part of the CAFD family.

Maximus is a 4-year-old German Shepherd certified in Tracking/Trailing, Narcotics, and Protection. He is assigned to Patrolman Jeff Morris of the Pomeroy OH Police Department. Maximus is national and state certified which allows the team to assist officers in the neighboring state of West Virginia. He is one of two K9s in Chester County and is used by multiple agencies and available for call-outs to any agency. K9 Maximus is very social and used extensively for PR purposes. Unfortunately, K9 Maximus is working without a kennel insert at the moment because, due to budget issues, the Village of Pomeroy is not able to purchase an insert and the agency’s K9 program, like many in the nation, is funded through donations.

Hero K9 was founded to resolve challenges faced by public safety agencies — law enforcement, search and rescue, and fire departments — across our nation. We do this by providing K9s, training, and equipment, empowering them to make a positive difference in our communities.
While K9s are generally considered a specialty unit, their service to our neighborhoods is irreplaceable. K9s locate lost children, aid in arson detection, and find criminals in unexpected hiding places. These working dogs sniff out illicit substances... and protect their handlers.
This is our purpose because we believe in K9s. They are the reason we exist. Our mission is how we support our communities and make a difference... whether it’s right next door or all the way across the nation, each and every day.
