Meet Joni! She’s known for her goofiness and her ability to brighten everyone’s day. She loves making jokes with staff about Jerry Springer, and cherishes her son and the memories they share. She is highly engaged in her care now, often saying,

“I don’t need my son to be up in Minnesota to take care of me. I have you guys to take care of me”

Her story is a testament to her strength and the supportive community at The Aliveness Project ❤️

Since Tuesday, we have already paid 60 late rents, and stopped 30 evictions.

Today we are so grateful to our Ward 8 City Council member Andrea Jenkins, and our entire Minneapolis City Council for unanimously approving 1.8 million dollars to be redirected so we can immediately help 32 families.💸💸💸❤️❤️

We fought, we won, we’re not done. We see you, we hear you, we will help you.❤️

“I want to tell people who are very afraid and very worried right now, that these services that they rely on, there are a lot of people working over time to make sure you get those services you rely on.”

“The Aliveness Project will expand its service delivery as an HIV supports provider after reaching an agreement with the Minnesota Department of Human Services. The agreement comes less than two weeks after the unexpected closure of Rainbow Health, which had been a leading HIV supports provider in Minnesota. The loss of Rainbow Health left thousands of Minnesotans living with HIV without access to emergency assistance like rent checks, utility support, food access and insurance navigation.

“HIV support services are so important to the people who rely on them,” said Human Services Commissioner Jodi Harpstead. “We’re grateful the Aliveness Project is willing and able to take on this critical work. We’re also thankful to our partners who worked with us to meet client needs while finding this solution.”

Under the new agreement, the former Rainbow Health contract responsibilities will be transferred to the Aliveness Project, effective immediately, while working with partners to coordinate the details of the transition. Keeping people in stable housing and limiting any interruption of other basic life needs continues to be the priority of the state response.

As Aliveness works to re-establish services, questions about immediate needs can continue to be directed to the Ryan White Programs Customer Care Line at DHS: 651-431-2398.”

- Dept. of Human Services

07/31/2024

The loss of Rainbow Health has left thousands of individuals without access to essential emergency assistance, including rent checks, utility support, food access, and insurance navigation. The moment Rainbow Health closed its doors, our entire community came together to respond quickly.

We are pleased to announce that starting today a transfer of contracts has begun to ensure that evictions are avoided, bills are paid, and access to essential services can continue.

Our team at Aliveness has been working overtime to guarantee that people’s basic needs are met. The following steps aim to achieve minimal disruption and ensure that people continue to have access to the necessary support and care they need during this challenging time.

💫Transfer of Contracts: An initial transfer of contracts has begun to ensure that essential and emergency services can continue.

💫Avoiding Evictions and Paying Bills: Immediate actions are being taken to maintain housing stability, prevent possible evictions, and ensure that utility bills are paid.

💫Developing a Phased Patient Care Plan: A phased plan is being developed to address the ongoing needs of the community during the transition, with a focus on maintaining the health and well-being of clients.

Aliveness is fully committed to bridging the gap left by Rainbow Health’s closure. Our collective goal is to ensure that individuals and families continue to have access to the services they need to maintain their health and stability.

Together, we will navigate this transition and continue to support one another as we have always done. We are here for you, and we will get through this together.

BREAKTHROUGH MOMENT AT AIDS SUMMIT!

Prof Linda-Gail Bekker has created a drug that only needs to be injected twice a year to prevent HIV and could be a “gamechanger” for the evolution of the health industry against HIV.

While it’s specifically being tested for women this is still a fresh start to dig deeper into other communities that could be affected by HIV.

Meanwhile Minnesotans have suffered a 24% increase of newly HIV diagnosis in 2023 compared to 2022 among other concerning stats. And while we’re currently offering PrEP and PEP services (among others) this could help stop the HIV Epidemic.

Remember that by sharing this post you’re saving lives!

07/26/2024

We want to thank PFund Foundation for their quick response to support the several organizations who are finding ways to immediately provide the life-saving and life-affirming services previously provided by Rainbow Health.

In times like these, it is more important than ever to stand together as a community. We all believe that our q***r and trans communities are so much stronger when we are in relationship to each other.

The Aliveness Project is deeply saddened by Rainbow Health's sudden, unexpected closure. Rainbow Health has provided a vital role in the lives of our members and the LGBTQ+ community. Our hearts go out to the 60 staff members and thousands of clients affected by this loss.

We are swiftly working with community partners and funders to ensure continuity of services and minimize the negative impact on our members. Our community will need extra support and care today and in the coming weeks. We are doing everything possible to ensure members continue receiving important services previously provided by the dedicated staff of Rainbow Health.

We will miss Rainbow Health and their partnership to end HIV in Minnesota. We want to take a moment to thank the staff and supporters of Rainbow. Our community has always been brighter one because of this wonderful organization.

Please take care of yourself and each other. Despite the challenges we face, we firmly believe we will emerge a stronger community.
Thank you for your dedication, resilience, and commitment to care.
