Teaching my horn students is the most important part of my job as a musician. After all, I am helping to pass on the joy of music to young people.

Celebrated the end of the school year with my horn students at Wayzata High School this afternoon! I'm very proud to be a part of this great band program and to teach these wonderful students. They all work hard and bring so much joy to each week! ๐Ÿ“ฏ๐ŸŽถ

Two of these wonderful kiddos are off to college. Feels bittersweet to see them move on. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Last October I began teaching beginning band and piano at 2 Saint Paul elementary schools to 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. I really had no idea what to expect, but I always knew that I wanted to do work like this. Several hours a week I get to teach kids that might not otherwise have any exposure to playing a musical instrument. This might be the most important work I have done in my career up until this point. I love every minute of it!

I just had to share this note I got from my sweet student. I am so thrilled these students are enjoying their time learning music. I do my best everyday to make it fun and engaging!

Happy New Year everyone! I am really happy to announce that as of the spring semester I am the adjunct professor of horn at Bethel University here in the Twin Cities! I am so excited to begin working with the students and to join the Bethel community.

This past fall I also joined the faculty of and through this wonderful organization began outreach work at Saint Paul Public Schools in their extended day learning program teaching band instruments to 4th and 5th graders.

Lots of exciting things happening! I am very excited for all that is coming up in 2023!

Another teacher brag about another graduating student! Molly Ross has been a student of mine since she was in 7th grade and has always been such a diligent and dedicated worker. I've always appreciated her work ethic and positive attitude!

Molly will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison next year. I know that her work on the hornwill prepare her for what is to come at college!

Molly was involved in the Concert Band for the last 2 years. Congratulations ! It's been a pleasure teaching you all these years!

Another day another teaching brag moment! I'm so proud of this gal! I'm super excited to announce that another student is entering a music program in the fall. Hannah Eide will be attending Temple University in Philadelphia studying with the amazing Randy Gardner

Hannah has worked so hard to get to this point and I am so proud of her! It's worth mentioning that the pandemic has made it even more difficult for my students to visit schools and not to mention keep motivation. Its been a hard year, but Hannah did a ton of hard work and will be entering a great program!

Again its always bittersweet sending a student off to college, but I'm so excited to follow Hannah's journey. Congratulations!

Proud teacher bragging time!!! I am so proud of Charlie Klukow for officially committing to The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music! He will be in great hands as he continues his training!

During high school Charlie was a Member of and has been involved in the .

Way to go Charlie! It is always bittersweet when students graduate. It has been a pleasure being a part of your journey!

I had a wonderful time this morning performing for the residents of Havenwood of Minnetonka!

Ally Partin put together a lovely solo French horn concert with accompaniment tracks for a community in Minnetonka and gifted them the concert through special MPTF funding. She even took our list of resident music requests and incorporated several of them into her concert. This concert was moved indoors due to weather and it was the first indoor concert the senior community had since Covid. Summit Music musicians have been the first indoor musicians now at 3 communities. ๐Ÿ’—

I have a busy week of performing thanks to the Musicians Performance Trust Fund! I'll be doing 2 solo parking lot concerts and sharing another with a fabulous flutist! Thank you to the Twin Cities Musicians Union local 30-73 and American Federation of Musicians for this funding!

Another one of our fabulous musicians - Ally Partin has been approved to receive funding from Music Performance Trust Fund for 3 solo concerts on French horn! She is choosing to use the funding to give back to some of the senior communities that have hosted us all in Parking Lot Concerts for Seniors. The concerts are fully funded and will be a gift to senior communities in St. Paul, Richfield and Minnetonka. Big thank you to TCMU and MPTF for their help securing this funding!

Had a wonderful time playing for residents at Havenwood of Minnetonka this afternoon!

Thankful that the sun came out midway through our second stop of the day!๐ŸŽต๐ŸŒž 3 communities in Edina, Richfield & Minnetonka hosted the outdoor Parking Lot Concerts for Seniors today. 3 musiciansโ€” violin, voice & french horn. As always, many beautiful moments shared with the residents at each location. ๐Ÿ’—

I had a great time leading the sectional for the 2020/2021 Minnesota Band Director's Association 9-10 grade honor band this weekend! The event was held virtually, and it was great to work with the students on their pieces that they recorded as well as horn masterclass topics.

Congrats also to my 3 students that participated in the event! Students work up 2 challenging etudes as well as scales and make an audition recording. I am so glad that programs such as this went on during the pandemic.

What a thrill this week to play not just 1 but 3 indoor performances! First Easter services, then a full recital with the Minnesota Horn Quartet , and finally this parking lot concert with Summit Music moved indoors due to rain. I'm so glad to be sharing music with people in person and indoors again!

What a lovely afternoon of music! We were rained out of our outdoor format but got to bring music indoors for the first time in a long time with our senior programs. What a TREAT! ๐Ÿ’— Horn & Violin today in Minnetonka. Looking forward to more music this weekend! Allyson Partin - French Horn Teacher and Performer & Natalie VanBurkleo-Carbonara

This was big fun yesterday! Broadway tunes for a community in Minnetonka!

Another great day of music. Out in Minnetonka today โ€” our first location got their 2nd dose of the Covid vaccine yesterday so we were happy to bring a smile! Our second location many residents came out on balconies and the parking lot to enjoy music since the sun was out! Looking forward to sharing music a brand new senior community that just opened their doors in St. Paul tomorrow!
