The Bison Bolognese has made a much welcomed return to the menu!
This Midwestern spin on the Italian classic starts with fettuccini smothered in a robust mix of mirepoix, tomato paste, and ground bison. Then we top it with pecorino and confit tomatoes that are bursting with flavor. Give it a go next time you stop in! It’s available on our everyday dinner menu starting at 3pm.

Anyone who met our late founder Chef Mitch Omer knew right off the bat he was one-of-a-kind.
In fact, not one person on earth would argue that our charismatic, beloved leader was also batty enough to say things that were completely out of line. When his wife and co-founder Cyn saw that his nachos were FINALLY back on our new menu, it instantly sent her back to 2007, when he ordered nachos at the pizza place next door to Hell's Kitchen in Duluth, which had become their unofficial "office" while our new restaurant was under construction. Each time they went there, the staff would nervously keep an eye on their table due to Mitch's VERY loud voice that was always peppered with profanities.
So one day, Mitch ordered nachos. Immediately, Cyn slid down in her seat, knowing what was about to happen. Sure enough, the nachos came out the same way many places make 'em...a bunch of unadorned tortilla chips piled on a plate with half-melted cheese ONLY on the top layer, which drove Mitch bonkers....
After staring at the platter, he shook his head, sighed, flipped over his paper placemat, then started drawing. (By this time, Cyn buried her face behind her menu.) Next, Mitch handed the tediously-sketched out instructions to the server, saying "take this to the kitchen and tell them I want my nachos exactly like this: a layer of tortilla chips, then cheese, then another layer of chips, then more cheese, then a third layer with LOTS more cheese and all that extra s**t on top. And make sure they're MELTED. I'll pay for this second order as well of course. Just tell them not to f**k it up."
The wide-eyed server nodded and scurried away. In a matter of minutes, the manager came over and wearily said, "Dude, when your own place opens next month, make 'em any way you want. But here, we're not changing a thing, By the way, this is your final warning that we're running a family restaurant. I've instructed my staff that if you ever say s**t or f**k or damn again, you'll be permanently banned. Don't get me wrong...you know we really like you, but you're WAY out of line." At this point, Cyn ran and hid in the bathroom. Mitch (whose bi-polar swings sometimes got the best of him) calmed down and left a crazy-good tip. And the manager got the last laugh because 3 years later, we closed our Duluth location...it was a failure with a capital F. But the next time you're at our Minneapolis spot, check out our back-on-the-menu nachos with hand pulled pork, BBQ sauce, coleslaw, diced pickles, cilantro, and melty housemade queso sauce on each and every damn layer. THAT'S how you make Mitch's Bonkers Nachos.

Ahhh… Chicken Tenders…
Crispy, hot, and perfect for dunking. What’s not to love? Ours are marinated overnight in buttermilk, then tossed in seasoned flour and fried 'til golden brown. Dunk ‘em into any of our housemade sauces such as BBQ, ranch, or Mitch’s Forever-To-Make Mustard. What’s your favorite dipping sauce? Leave it in the comments!

The BBQ Pork Nachos are back and better than ever. This saucy starter features corn chips covered in our house BBQ and queso sauces, diced pickles, coleslaw, cilantro, and shredded pork carnitas.

New menu alert!
Now that downtown’s back in full force, we were able to bring back some favorites from years ago, including the return of our legendary Reuben with thousand island dressing, sauerkraut, marble rye, Swiss cheese, and of course, tender shredded corned beef. Our staff is thrilled to see its return, and even though we’re only on Day 1 with our new menus, it’s already flying out of the kitchen. Gonna see the T-wolves win another one? "Bring ya ass" downtown, park for only 5 bucks in our adjacent ramp, and before you walk over to Target Center, try our Reuben with all the parking money you’ll save!

Say Hi to Haley!

Prior to the pandemic, it was already hard to imagine Hell's Kitchen without this lady. With her multifaceted talents and solid judgement, it was no surprise that Haley quickly moved up the ranks. From host, to manager, to department head, she has stepped up to the plate ready to swing for the fences in each role she takes on.

Now in 2024, Haley has become an indispensable piece of our operation. As one of the first employee-owners rehired post-Covid, she helped the restaurant through a tumultuous reopening process that other less-committed individuals chose not to endure.

It's that same dedication that's setting Haley up for her most challenging roll yet: The Future General Manager of Hell's Kitchen. It's no small feat to keep the wheels moving around here, yet she transitioned into the job with a natural poise that could convince anyone she's been doing it for years.

Between kicking major managerial ass, buying a new house, and being a mother of two, Haley somehow still manages to keep her composure and be a consistently delightful presence at the restaurant. Even though she's now one of the "big wigs" around here, we all know that Haley is still one of us. Her down-to-earth, approachable attitude made her a perfect fit to lead a massive team of employee-owners, and we can't wait to see how far she's going to take us. Throw this badass mama a congrats next time you're in the area! She definitely deserves it.

Say Hi to Alfredo!
Nothing gets this guy down. Even after tirelessly flipping bacon and hotcakes nonstop for hours on end, Fredo still held onto his goofy, upbeat demeanor. You may recognize his name from our popular Fredo's Breakfast Burrito, which made its way onto our menu after years of cheffing them up for staff. With seemingly endless energy, Alfredo never stops moving. While yes, it would be awesome to have this ray of sunshine around 100% of the time, unfortunately he does have a life outside of Hell's Kitchen. In addition to leading kitchen shifts (which, mind you, is not an easy job), Alfredo is also a boxing instructor, marathon runner, and father of four. (Frankly, it's making this writer tired just typing all that out.) Needless to say, we're grateful Fredo still finds time for us. His infectious smile and can-do attitude light up the room, and our kitchen has been a much jollier environment since he started almost 8 years ago. Thanks for everything you do, bud! It was awesome working with you in Courtland, and we were thrilled to see the joy on your face as you got to ride "up front" when Fire Chief Ubel gave us all a tour around town in his rig.

It really does take a village

Hell’s Kitchen is proud to share the celebration of ten years of legalized same-sex marriage! In honor of the milestone anniversary, we are doubling down on our support for the LGBTQIA+ community by throwing yet another wedding for a new lovely couple. While we’ll be providing appetizers, drinks, dinner, wedding desserts, an event coordinator, and a full staff in our beautiful underground space free or charge, we’d still be thrilled to partner with a killer photographer, florist, videographer, paper goods designer, or others who would like to add to the excitement by making partial or full donations of their services.

The big day, August 11, 2024, is quickly approaching, and because it’s such a pivotal year, we’d love for the world to see how our “village” supports the LGBTQIA+ community. The deadline for proposals and bids is April 16, 2024. If your business can help, please reach out via the button below so we can present a list to the couple to make their selections. After several months of planning, prepping, and promoting, our Fire and Brimstone II event turned out to be more successful than we could have imagined. We flipped (literally) thousands of lemon ricotta hotcakes, cooked dozens of cases of bacon, laughed, cried, and met some truly fantastic people from Courtland and far beyond. We were especially grateful to see all the firefighters from across the region that showed up for support. There’s no way we could have done this alone. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to all of the vendors who donated goods and supplies, to all the incredible businesses for their generous "Fire Alarm" sponsorships, to all of the volunteers who showed up Saturday to help bring this event to life, and to the amazing community who came out to make it such a success. Also a HUGE shoutout to our friends Kristi Mae Schroer and Helping Minnesota Heroes for helping plan and facilitate through every step of the process. We seriously can’t thank you enough. Together, over $20,000 was raised for Courtland Fire & Rescue in honor of the two beloved firefighters they lost. Our late chef/founder Mitch Omer, a reformed pyromaniac who spent his adult life donating to fire departments, would be proud.

Easter Weekend is here!
Our Sunday brunch is looking, unsurprisingly, pretty damn busy. However, Hell’s Kitchen has never been a ‘reservations required’ type of place. In the heart of downtown Minneapolis, appropriately located in a beautiful underground space, you’ll discover a chef-owned restaurant known for its damn good food: unique but not fancy, interesting but not fussy.

Founders Steve Meyer and Mitch Omer (R.I.P 2015) are award-winning chefs in the Twin Cities; devoting far more of their lives to food than their patient wives (who happen to run the business end) want to admit. Rather than being “celebrity chefs” with fancy toques and pretentious “vertical” foods, these war horses and their rogue compadres have lived their lives behind the stove working their asses off to bring you made-from-scratch meals. Almost everything is housemade, including our raved-about peanut butter which we now send throughout the world.

Even our bar gets in on the “made-from-scratch” action, offering beautiful Bloody Mary’s, local craft beers, and awesome cocktails created with house-infused liquors.

No, this isn’t Denny’s with a $2.99 Grand Slam breakfast. Thankfully, our customers understand “you get what you pay for.” So come to our underground lair and enjoy. It’s a fun place (even kids love us!), a bit light-hearted and quirky, but the emphasis always has been and always will be our damn good food.
