We are thrilled to be involved with the Right to Repair movement and loved hosting our partners to celebrate Repair Independence Day!

We are thrilled to announce that as of Monday, July 1st, the Minnesota Digital Fair Repair Act is officially in effect! This groundbreaking legislation requires all manufacturers selling electronics in the state to make spare parts, specialized tools, and manuals available to residents and repair businesses upon request. Notably, the law retroactively covers devices sold after July 2021.

To celebrate this significant achievement, our CEO, Heather Walch, and Test & Repair Manager, Chris Olson, attended a Right to Repair press event at Minnesota Tech for Success. We are deeply grateful for the support of our partners at Reuse Minnesota and for everyone who has advocated tirelessly for the Right to Repair.

Together, we are making strides towards a more sustainable and repair-friendly future!

Minnesota Computers for Schools (MCFS) provides technology access and training to individuals in need. Since our founding in 1997, we have placed more than 86,000 computers in schools and educational nonprofits in Minnesota.

At MCFS, we believe that everyone deserves access to the technology necessary to succeed in school and in the workforce. In an effort to close the digital divide, we hire and train offenders at the Stillwater Correctional Facility to refurbish computers donated from businesses. The computers are then placed in schools and educational nonprofits for little-to no cost.

Programs

Computers for Education: MCFS provides refurbished computers to schools and educational nonprofits for a minimal cost. Computers come with educational software, tech support and a warranty.
