Jeremiah Program offers one of the nation’s most successful strategies for supporting families as they work to transform their lives from poverty to prosperity two generations at a time. We believe that no mother should have to make the untenable choice between investing in herself and her children. Our holistic approach allows families to dream what is possible when they are able to bring all of

We were delighted to have Alethia, a JP Boston Mom, visit our Minneapolis campus this week. Alethia and Shamierra, JP Moms, first connected during their Empowerment & Leadership Cohort in 2022 and have formed a strong bond ever since. Shamierra considers Alethia her best friend and the godmother of her son, maintaining their close relationship across Minnesota and Massachusetts through FaceTime and phone calls. Shamierra's Family Coach, Hannah, was thrilled to meet someone who holds significance not only for Shamierra and her family but also for the JP community.

Our very own Bianca Scott, this year’s Spark Tank winner and 2023-2024 JP Alumni Fellow, is a semifinalist for MN Cup — Minnesota’s largest business pitch competition! With more than 3,000 participants in the contest, her business, ESPI Properties, LLC, is one of 90 to move to the semifinal round. From not progressing as a 2023 Spark Tank participant to winning in 2024 to this new honor, Bianca continually proves that a “no” is not the end. We’re so proud!

Getting support from JP means single moms don’t have to stress about child care.It means receiving help if they can’t afford a textbook or getting assistance with replacing a broken laptop so they can complete their coursework. It means mitigating barriers that can keep student parents from graduating and leading their families toward economic mobility.

St. Paul restores Rondo Avenue name to city street 05/03/2024

Jeremiah Program St. Paul, located in the heart of the historic Rondo neighborhood, is proud that the name of our street address has been restored to its original name - Rondo Avenue. Thank you to the St. Paul City Council members who led the work to restore the street name!

The center of St. Paul's thriving Black community for decades, the Rondo neighborhood was systematically destroyed when Interstate 94 was constructed between 1956 and 1968. Read more in the article below about the significance of this important name change and the ongoing efforts to celebrate and continue to build on the rich cultural history and present vibrancy of Rondo.

St. Paul restores Rondo Avenue name to city street Stretches of Concordia and St. Anthony avenues are renamed Rondo to match the footprint of the once-lively St. Paul commercial artery.

The raptor center visited Our St Paul Child Development Center! The toddler classroom has been learning about birds, so the visit was right on time. We met a red tailed hawk, a merlin, and a great horned owl. The children asked fantastic questions like what they eat, when they were born, and how they hunt. They also learned about the four key characteristics of a raptor: a hooked beak, talons, excellent eyesight, and a diet of meat.

For eight years, Ms. Norma Jean has been the welcoming face and friendly voice greeting visitors, families, and staff when they arrive at our St. Paul campus. She is truly beloved on campus. When asked why she volunteers she said, "I've been a volunteer at Jeremiah Program for close to eight years, and I volunteer at JP St. Paul because it's the perfect fit for me. In fact, I can't see myself being anywhere else. I have JP teachers, staff, moms and the children here, and they are all like family to me; they call me Grandma! I love every one of them. JP treats me like family, and I look forward to coming here every day."

We appreciate YOU Ms. Norma Jean, thank you!

This week, our Child Development Centers in St. Paul and Minneapolis took a trip to the State Capitol for Children's Advocacy Day. The preschool classrooms joined in as we listened to parents, providers, and politicians emphasize the importance of supporting early learning. Following the discussions, we all enjoyed snacks and listened to stories read by some of our representatives.

Earlier this month, moms from our St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses also visited the state capital. They toured the premises, engaged with Representatives and Senators, and gained insight into the process of creating, voting on, and passing bills. Some moms even expressed interest in politics and considered changing their college majors after the visit.

We kicked off a Parenting workshop on our Minneapolis campus this week! For the first session we welcomed Amanda Luedtke, a mental health professional, to discuss youth mental health and wellbeing. Our moms learned about community resources, ways to take care of their own mental health and how to support their child. We look forward to more local parenting experts in our upcoming workshops!
