Science. Evidence. This is what we continue to focus on in educating communities on opioid addiction. Huge thanks to our own Dr. Hillary Tamar and the Waukesha County Health and Human Services team for having us!
How great is this? Our location in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin has put together a clothing and hygiene center in an unused corner of the clinic. This amazing resource has been built up through the donations from individuals who have lost loved ones to this disease, the generosity of community partners such as Autumn’s Closet - a local resale boutique - and the kindness of our own clients who may have been in need of similar items at some point in their lives.
Clothing, personal hygiene items and more are available to any CMS patient to take what they need, when they need it. Now THAT is Community

Anyone else catch this great long-form news piece from Last Week Tonight?
It calls attention to the $50 billion+ in opioid settlement funds allotted to state and local governments, and the need to channel these funds into evidence-based strategies, such as harm reduction and medications for opioid use disorder.

Aurora, CO Mayor Mike Coffman recently toured our local clinic, learning more about MAT resources and meeting in person with those in recovery who have seen positive changes in their life with the help provided by our team. Huge thanks to the brave patients who came forward to tell their stories, and to CBS News for visiting with us! https://www.cbsnews.com/colorado/video/aurora-plans-to-use-opioid-settlement-money-to-help-overcome-addiction/
CMS has been actively working with states on how to best institute the new SAMHSA regulations rolled out in April of this year. The new regulations are aimed at increasing access to medications that treat opioid addiction, giving clinic doctors more flexibility to prescribe medications in larger doses to new patients, as well as more freedom to prescribe take home medication. This is particularly critical in states such as Montana, where many of our patients drive great distances to get to the clinic daily.
Our thanks to KTVQ for highlighting these changes! Hear the full story here: https://www.ktvq.com/news/local-news/billings-opioid-treatment-center-welcomes-federal-rule-that-increases-medication-access
Billings opioid treatment center welcomes federal rule that increases medication access It's the first time in more than 20 years that the government has changed the rules and Community Medical Services will be directly affected by the update.

It’s and we cannot say ENOUGH about the care our nurses provide CMS patients! We may be biased, but our nurses are the best at what they do. The. Best.
Please accept a warm thank you from all of us at CMS as we celebrate each of you this week and the contributions you make in bettering lives.
Did you know that May is Mental Health Awareness Month? Here at CMS we are focused on caring for the whole person, and helping our patients get to the root cause of their substance use disorder - the Why - is a key to improving their mental health. We encourage all of you to take time for your own mental health, reach out to someone if you need it, and check in on one another this month (and always!). Thank you to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) for these resources! Learn more at nami.org.
