Join us in celebrating responsibly with our Fireworks Safety Tips: https://www.trinityhealth.org/fireworks-safety/
The safest way to enjoy fireworks is to attend a public firework show put on by professionals, at least 500 feet away from the show.
If you are setting fireworks off at home, follow these steps to help keep your community safe:
โข Choose a location away from buildings and trees.
โข Never give fireworks to small children, and never throw or point a firework toward people, animals, vehicles, structures or flammable materials. Always follow the instructions on the packaging.
โข Be sure your spectators, including children and pets, stay well back.
โข Keep a supply of water or fire extinguisher at hand. IF you live in an area thatโs experiencing a drought, consider canceling the show this year-a stray spark that lands on dry grass or leaves can lead to a wildfire.
โข Make sure the person lighting fireworks always wears eye protection.
โข Light only one firework at a time and never attempt to relight โa dud.โ
โข Store fireworks in a cool, dry place away from children and pets.

On this Longest Day, we're privileged to share Monica Padgett's touching story.: "My father, who is diagnosed with late-stage Alzheimerโs type Dementia, was admitted to Trinity Hospital in November of 2023. I was nervous about the admission because he had previously lived at my home in Minot and had recently started experiencing personality changes and aggressive behavior changes. From the moment the ambulance picked him up to the moment he was discharged my father was treated like Trinity family. Employees were kind, joked around with him and played games. He required sitters once he moved out of the ETC and to the medical floor. Each person that was in contact with him would tell me how much they enjoyed working with my dad, even when he had some difficult days. He even had sitters requesting to sit with him, due to his funny and quirky nature. Nutrition services ensured that he was brought excellent meals and snacks, Environmental Services made sure that his room was always clean and tidy and Case Management worked tirelessly to find him a place to go where he would continue to be treated as family. It was evident that education and training that staff have received through Trinity Health is utilized and individualized to each patient. I often speak about how no one can give my dad the care that I want for him, but he can always get the care that is needed for him. Trinity staff went above and beyond even what was needed and I am proud to say that I am a member of this Trinity family."
- Monica Padgett, Nurse Educator at Trinity Health
Monica's experience embodies the compassionate dedication of Trinity Health on this day dedicated to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research.

Whether you're hiking in the mountains or simply taking a stroll in the park, outdoor falls can happen when you least expect them. Here's how to reduce your risk of falls and stay safe outdoors:
๐ฅพ Wear Proper Footwear: Choose sturdy, supportive footwear with good traction, especially for hiking or walking on uneven terrain. Proper footwear can help prevent slips and falls.
๐ถโโ๏ธ Mind Your Step: Watch where you're walking and be cautious of obstacles like rocks, roots, or debris on the trail. Take your time, especially on unfamiliar paths or in low-light conditions.
๐ฒ Use Handrails: When navigating stairs, boardwalks, or steep inclines, always use handrails if available. They provide added stability and can help prevent falls.
๐ฑ Avoid Distractions: Stay focused on your surroundings and avoid distractions like texting or listening to music while walking. Keep your attention on the path ahead to avoid tripping or stumbling.
๐ Be Prepared: If you're hiking or exploring remote areas, carry essential supplies like water, snacks, a map, and a first-aid kit. Being prepared can help you handle emergencies more effectively and prevent accidents.
๐ซ Buddy System: Whenever possible, hike or explore outdoor areas with a companion. Having someone with you increases safety and provides assistance in case of accidents or injuries.
