Happy Veterans Day to all of the men and women who have bravely served our country (including my big brother Brian). Yesterday, I had the privilege of hosting Johnson County's Annual Veterans Day Observance for the first time as Chair. It was an honor to recognize our local veterans and their families. We can never say it enough: Thank you for your service.

Congratulations to everyone who was elected to serve yesterday. I look forward to working together with all of you as we chart our course in Johnson County. And thank you to everyone who stepped up to participate in our democracy -- whether you put your name on the ballot, knocked doors, wrote postcards, or voted. Your voice is critical to our community.

JoCo leaders join other KC officials to 'stand with Israel' Leaders from Johnson County joined other officials in a briefing at Union Station in Kansas City on Thursday aimed at showing support to the Jewish community.

Our hearts are with our Jewish brothers and sisters around the world and here at home. Hamas is a terrorist organization committing unspeakable acts of violence against civilians. The images we have seen are devastating and heartbreaking. We will always and unequivocally denounce terrorism in any form, from any source. We understand that the Jewish community in Johnson County is hurting and is fearful, and will continue to support them through this time of trial. We hope for peace and safety for all the innocent lives caught in this hatred.

More economic development than you can shake a shovel at! Pleased to join Mayor Curt Skoog, Governor Laura Kelly, Lt. Governor David Toland, and the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce to break ground on a new development that will bring more *jobs* and more *livability* to Johnson County.

This is a game-changing opportunity for a lot of families in our community to have access to a variety of new books on a regular basis. It was an honor to welcome Ms. Parton and Governor Laura Kelly to Johnson County this week to celebrate the news at The J KC - Jewish Community Center.

Following the information released by the City of Fairway that Fairway Police Officer Jonah Oswald has died as a result of injuries sustained in a shooting Sunday morning, Johnson County Board of County Commissioners Chairman Mike Kelly issued the following statement on Aug. 7, 2023.

Johnson County's economy is driven by small, local businesses like Wild Child Libations – a wine and cocktail bar that just opened in Downtown Shawnee. It’s awesome to see hometown entrepreneurs like (James Beard Award finalist) Jay Sanders continue to invest, grow, and innovate right here in Johnson County.

Johnson County welcomed U.S. Department of the Interior Secretary Deb Haaland and Rep. Sharice Davids this week for a round table discussion on the continued economic and environmental impacts of the bipartisan infrastructure law.

More confirmation of what we already know: our elections are accurate, safe, secure, and efficient - and our democracy is strong.

In KS audit, Johnson County rates high on election security - The Kansas City Star Johnson County consistently outperformed other Kansas counties in a legislative audit of election security published Thursday.

Just cut the ribbon on the Johnson County Executive Airport’s rebuilt Taxiway Bravo, completely paid for by federal funding. Collaboration between local and federal jurisdictions was key in making these major improvements to one of the most highly-used airports in the state.

A massive slip and slide, pie contests, pony rides ... I was definitely the least exciting part of VillageFest! But I appreciate the dinosaur giving me the stage for a few minutes to wish everyone a Happy Independence Day. Congratulations to the City of Prairie Village on a successful VillageFest 2023 - a great event to bring our community together.

Fourth of July starts at the City of Lenexa, Kansas Government Community Days Parade! Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday! 🇺🇸

As our communities change and grow, the professional staff who manage our cities are hard at work to make sure our residents continue to enjoy a high quality of life. That means infrastructure that gets us safely to where we need to go, clean water we can drink, and a wastewater system we never have to think about. We talked about all of these things and more during a panel discussion I moderated with local public works officials and engineers as part of the Kansas Society of Professional Engineers Annual Conference in Olathe.

In the year since the Supreme Court threw out 50 years of legal precedent in the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Kansans have made it very clear: we believe all people should have the freedom to make their own personal health care decisions.

The Johnson County Commission proclaimed June 2023 as Pride Month in Johnson County, "urging all residents to respect and honor our diverse community and celebrate and build a culture of inclusiveness and acceptance." We put that into practice at the Gardner KS Pride event last weekend, where we celebrated our vibrant community.

People throughout Johnson County paused to recognize Juneteenth this weekend. It was my privilege to be a part of several ceremonies, including the County's second annual celebration yesterday in Lenexa.
