In December of 2023 it looked like it might just be the end of the road for No Joke Theater. But miracles do happen. Local philanthropists Shirley Juhl & David McEwen, saw BROKEN TOYS at the UM Masquer Theatre, and were inspired to take action. They offered to help ensure that No Joke Theater continue to grow and thrive in Missoula by hosting a fundraiser. Miraculously, she was able to get the incredible jazz singer Patti Nolan to sign on, with additional philanthropic support from Charles Rial and Mary LaPorte. Montanans in recovery bring their own story to stage A Missoula theater company is presenting an original script, "Fellowship Hall," featuring actors from the recovery community.
Come to the Confluence Center, located at 119 W. Main Street, this Saturday afternoon, June 22nd, from 3-4pm (doors open at 2:30pm), for an exclusive presentation by John Piacquadio. Experience an eclectic showcase featuring his distinctive sumo style ink art, spanning three diverse periods and artistic styles.
Explore Piacquadio's evolution through his work, which delves into various themes including the grace of fly fishing depicted through abstract leaping fish and exquisite fly fishing flies. Additionally, immerse yourself in his exploration of conspiracy theories, where Bigfoot dons 90s hightops, UFO sightings intrigue, and subtle religious references provoke thought.
Don't miss this opportunity to witness the fusion of creativity and narrative in Piacquadio's captivating artwork.
FELLOWSHIP HALL is a new play written by Ean Miles Kessler. This is the first original play written specifically for No Joke Theater, an impactful, transformational theater program for participants in pre-release programs, individuals under court ordered supervision and members of the recovery community. The majority of actors in FELLOWSHIP HALL either come from Missoulaβs R.O.A.D. court or are local members of the recovery community. Former teaching artists Penelope Baquero and Mark Plonsky also join the cast. It is directed by Leah Joki. Patti Nolan will perform for No Joke Theatre!
