A group of WGMers and friends spent time over the weekend cleaning up the beach and boat ramp area at Swan Lake for the annual Flathead Waters Cleanup event. Fueled by huckleberry pancakes at the Swan Lake Huckleberry Festival, the crew collected trash for two hours and earned the prize for the most unique item found: a little green plastic army toy. In total, the Montana Waters: Clearly Connected event had more than 150 volunteers who removed over 3,000 pounds of trash and debris along 50-plus miles of riverbank and lakeshore in the Flathead Watershed. We are thankful for clean, beautiful water and all the people who regularly help to keep it that way.

We had quite the storm at our Missoula office last night! We’re up and running today, but giving our employees some grace as they navigate power outages and downed trees in their neighborhoods. Give us a call and we can help direct you to those who are available.

Looking for something to do with the kiddos this summer? Check out the new skatepark at Clinton Community Park. WGM assisted with the parking lot and helped refine the park's master plan. We're looking forward to helping future phases come to life at the park, but for now you'll catch us wheeling around the bowl!

Construction is off and running at Montana Department of Transportation's Hardin Rest Area. After quick demolition earlier this spring, crews from Dick Anderson Construction are already setting the stage for new buildings to go up.

Both eastbound and westbound sites are closed this summer, though drivers on Interstate 90 should notice minimal-to-no traffic disruption. The Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Watercraft Inspection Site remains open to westbound travelers through construction. MDT's design-build process prompted a quick project timeframe, and the rest areas are scheduled to be completed in May 2025. When it reopens, the sites will be ADA compliant including buildings with enhanced safety features and larger restrooms, plus there will be increased parking, new water supply and wastewater facilities, improved stormwater drainage, and much more. Also, the westbound site will be home to an updated FWP Watercraft Inspection Site as well as a new MCS Weigh Station.

Happy Earth Day! Crews in Bozeman will plant trees at North Meadows Park with the Gallatin Watershed Council on Friday for Arbor Day, and folks in Missoula spent time last week cleaning up around the Clark Fork River. We love the places we live and know how important it is to take care of it!
