Modstock Music Festival

Perfect Nightmare is such a great band and I am so impressed by what they have been doing lately. I would like to hold them up as a shining example of the success that a band that was originally formed at the Valley music Institute can attain. We had Mari Anguis in a couple of bands before Perfect Nightmare and she was always clearly something special as a vocalist and performer. I believe early 2015 Perfect Nightmare was formed and in October they won the Modesto area music award as best youth band, and performed at the show, bringing the house down! They graduated from VMI and went on to have a successful career as a local professional, hard rock/ metal band. Just this year they won another Modesto area music award in their category. Congratulations to all past and current members of this exciting band. If you have a chance to go to one of their shows, don't miss it.

It's concert season for VMIRocks School Of Rock. Last Saturday we took the most VMI bands ever to 10th St. place for an all day marathon of musical mayhem. Rock 'n' roll family time was had and ripples in the universe were created. Thanks to Middagh Goodwin for the Music in the Plaza and all the families and musicians. The Valley Music Institute starts our fall semester the week of August 26. You will play at 10th St., Place, VMI mainstage, 5 Eye Brewing, and the Modesto Centre Plaza.
The tuition is $195 for the first member of a family, 170 for the second member, and $95 per second bands for individuals.

Hello friends, VMIRocks School Of Rock also known as Valley Music Institute has been nominated in the The Modesto Bee best of Modesto Contest for best music lessons You go to the education category and then go to the music/lessons sub category and if you feel so inclined, please vote for us. There are many of your favorite businesses and organizations of all types available in the multitude of categories for which to vote. Apparently you can vote every day as well. It seems like I have heard about another important voting opportunity coming up nationwide so this may be a good avenue to practice making your vote count.

We are preparing for Modstock with three nights at 5 Eye brewing, 20 bands per night. Nights one and two are already in the books and tonight is our last concert before the totally free 14th Annual Modstock Music Festival sponsored by Robert’s Auto Sales in Graceada Park this Sunday!With over 70 vendors and over 100 bands on four stages, all in the beautiful shady park setting, this year's Peace, Love and Music Festival should be a festive, joyous celebration for all.
Have some fine craft brew with us this evening if you can and then meet with us in the park on Sunday for our annual end of summer gathering.

Happy late birthday to 12 year old VMI, Drummer and artist Molly Kaley! We have a tradition at VMIRocks School Of Rock of doing a pick drop when a band finishes a song in a spectacular way. This is like a mic drop, but easier on the equipment 🙂 Molly has memorialized this tradition with this great piece of art. She has also created a Lego rendition of VMI, which features Alex Martinez , Mr. Music, getting a Dr Pepper from the vending machine and me, but with more hair, directing the band from the soundboard. Thank you Molly, for these fun works of art. They mean a lot. Molly is the drummer for the Indecisives and Paradox. So grateful to the ModestoView magazine, and the Modesto area music Association for all they do to support, enhance and promote all things musical in our area. Lending their platform to VMI, and even to me personally, has been a big help to us being able to do what we do and reach more people. Also grateful that Chris and the ModestoView organization, for the second year in a row, are providing the stage for the professional bands at the 14th annual Modstock music festival sponsored by Robert’s Auto Sales. Pleased that they have an article about Modstock featured on their website and that in this issue, they have a photo of me with local legend Doug Robinette, my guitar playing and music promoting brother. Doug and Triple D have performed at the Modstock music festival more than any other group. Once again, we are thrilled to have them on the professional band stage and Doug is going to run that stage again this year assuring that we are on time and all things go smoothly. Both Doug and I have events coming up. Everyone should go to the RockFest at Twin Rivers saloon this Saturday! A ton of great bands, many of which will perform at the Modstock music festival, including VMI standout Vintage Youth. Thank you brother for being who you are, and thank you ModestoView!
