This week several members and their horses have been attending the annual @western_states_mounted courses held this year in Temecula. A lot of riding with long days, but doing well. Last night they were exposed to flares and fireworks. Sensory training is an important part to horse/rider development to continue to build that trust and exposure.
Unfortunately due to the extreme heat our horses won’t be at tomorrow’s Concert in the Park. We will be at the 4th of July parade.
As the community becomes more active during the summer mornings, mounted officers stay committed to keeping the trails and neighborhoods safe.
Summer has arrived and so has weekly concerts at the park. Keep an eye out for our horses during your visits to the park and feel free to approach them. #modesto #graffittisummer #modestoorchestra
Yesterday, mounted officers got the opportunity to train with the mobile field force. Having joint training is vital for collaboration and horse familiarity.
2024 Modesto Mounted Officers Association Prime rib dinner has arrived. A little bit of rain which will keep the event cool.
Today, the Stanislaus Sheriffs Mounted Unit, along with Modesto Police Department’s Equestrian Unit, participated in the Stanislaus Peace Officers Memorial, honoring our fallen Peace Officers. After the memorial, MPD officers spent time patrolling the Gateway park in Downtown Modesto.
