MMOA ~ Preserving The Legacy Of The American Police Horse
Modesto Mounted Officers Association
Hard work paid off. Officer Botsch, Officer Catrina and Sergeant Inacio demonstrated the necessary skills needed to complete their course and will be out on patrol soon.
The week has come to an end for the basic mounted class.
This week several members and their horses have been attending the annual courses held this year in Temecula. A lot of riding with long days, but doing well. Last night they were exposed to flares and fireworks. Sensory training is an important part to horse/rider development to continue to build that trust and exposure.
Never miss an opportunity to train
Members of the Modesto Mounted Officers Association would like to extend their condolences to the San Diego Police Department.
Sometimes horse play is what’s needed to relax and not overthink what leg to use and apply your skill.
These past four days mounted units from across the United States gathered in Anaheim, Ca to network and share best practices. There are not many agencies with mounted units so it’s important to have open communication amongst each other to improve our horses and provide the best service to the community.
Great time spent at National Night Out 2024
Qualification completed. Congratulations to Officer Catrina and his partner Rooster in earning their sabers. Officers Catrina and Rooster will be out on the streets soon.
We are honored to win first place for the best overall equestrian club during the 151st annual Kiwanis club and City of Modesto 4th of July parade.
More pictures from our Fourth of July parade. No better view to watch the celebration than from the top of a horse.
Several members of our unit had the privilege of attending a Horse Handling Seminar instructed by Ron McLoughlin with Classical Stock Seat School of Arizona and hosted at Wild Wine Farm over the weekend. It was an intense 2-day riding clinic filled with skill-building fun and camaraderie!
These off-duty trainings are just one way the non-profit organization, Modesto Mounted Officer's Association, is committed with the assistance in funding additional trainings with our horse teams that are beyond their on-duty monthly trainings. Hormanship is a continuous commitment this team balances beyond their normal police assignments and daily life committments.
Keeping the Legacy of the American Police Horse in our community!
We understand the importance that a Mounted Unit brings to our big little community. Our equestrian partners not only provide opportunities for officers to provide services to our community in different ways, but more importantly they provide positive opportunities to connect and interact with each other. They just have that special ability to foster lasting community relationships both with children and adults alike!
A big shout out to those ensuring we keep the Legacy of the Police Horse in our community and to our animal partners in reminding us to take a moment and enjoy the little things!

Today, Modesto PD, Stockton PD, San Joaquin County Sheriff, and Stanislaus County Sheriff had our first regional training day at diamond bar arena. Almost 30 horses were able to conduct scenarios, formation drills and crowd control practice. It was a great day of training, team work and relationship building.

Great morning getting out of the arena to a change of scenery.
A little rain and wind, but it was an honor to participate in Oakland Police Officer Le’s funeral service.
