A fun day of cardio lab immersion with Dr. Rich Severin!

Dr. Avery Dabbs, Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Pediatric Physical Therapy, presented a case to our students in Grand Rounds with emphasis on the ICF model. We thank Dr. Dabbs and Gabe for a great presentation and demonstration!

In honor of the 2024 Olympics, ULM DPT had an Olympic award ceremony for the top performers in Clinical Skills Development. The recipients of the Gold Glove, the Silver Wheelchair, and the Bronze Crutches will pass their awards on to the second cohort winners next year!

Cohort 1 applied their integrated knowledge from previous weeks to pediatric assessment and management. Thank you to all of our participants and parents! As usual, a great time was had by all. 😁

Dr. Shelcie Menard-Harvey is featured as a distinguished scientist in an exhibit currently displayed at the Lafayette Science Museum.

Dr. Ondrell S. Moore ( Why Spiritual Leadership Matters in a New Physical Therapist Education Program ) and Dr. Ashanti M. Jones ( Assessing Health Needs in a Dominican Republic Community During an Interprofessional Service-Learning Trip ) are featured authors in the Journal of Interprofessional Practice and Collaboration (Vol. 4, Issue 2, Spring 2024).

Dr. Jones and Dr. Rich Severin got accepted to the APTA Fellowship in Higher Education.

APTA Louisiana Spring Meeting. Dr. Victoria Hamby took a break from her Research Committee duties to have a moment with ULM DPT’s own Megan Landry, SPT (left). She also caught up with our good friend from LSUHSC New Orleans, Dr. Ngozi Akotaobi.

Sim Lab fun! Dr. Hamby collaborated with the Nursing team to set up a dynamic Simulation Lab for our SPTs.

Dr.’s VanHoose and Hamby had AHEC of a day with area high school students last week who wanted to know more about physical terr- 😇 PTs.

So thankful to Kitty Degree School of Nursing for allowing us to use their simulation lab for students to practice line management and bed mobility in acute care settings.

Kicking off Spring Semester with a health fair at the Chennault Aviation & Military Museum.

Troy Ketchum, PT, DPT, COMT, Board-Certified Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy, owner of Rock Island Physical Therapy in Ruston spoke to the ULM student physical therapists about a targeted and personalized approach to treating each patient. Complete with documentation, outcome measures, and a hands on evaluation, our students appreciated this Grand Rounds experience. Thank you, Dr. Ketchum!

Ryan Campbell, PT, DPT, Board-Certified Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy gave our ULM student physical therapists a clinical and managerial perspective during our Grand Rounds. With a blend of knowledge, wisdom, humor, storytelling, and real-life case studies, he provided a plethora of knowledge about the importance of treating “the whole person.” Thank you, Dr. Campbell!
