Now that it’s the peak of summer, lounging in the pool is a great way to beat the Louisiana heat!☀️🕶️
However, the pool is great for much more than just lounging. Hydrotherapy — exercise and rehabilitation in water — is extremely beneficial for many different reasons.
Here’s a few Hydrotherapy Benefits:
🛟Low Impact🛟 The buoyancy and pressure of water takes a load off your joints and decreases inflammation (perfect for Arthritis and weight-bearing injuries to the back and legs).
🌊Muscle Building🌊 Water’s density and light resistance strengthens muscles and increases aerobic endurance without the need for equipment/weights.
🏊♂️Balance & Coordination🏊♂️ Falling is a major risk in older and ataxic patients, but water takes away this risk until the patient is strong enough to exercise on land!
😎It’s fun!😎 Exercising is a million times more enjoyable when it’s done in the cool, relaxing water!
What a great review!
From head to toe, Dry Needling is a great way to relieve pain and muscle tightness!
🚴♂️For the athletes — Dry Needling can help with recovery from common sport injuries like Rotator Cuff Tears, Meniscal Tears, Shin Splints, and Achilles Tendinitis.
🧑💻For the non-athletes — Dry Needling can improve pain from Bursitis, Hip Replacements, Back Sprains, and even Migraines!
These two patients were poked to help with Neck Pain/Stiffness and Plantar Fasciitis respectively.💆♀️🦶
We hope you enjoy time with the family, and God bless America!
Tennis Elbow vs. Golfer’s Elbow — what’s the difference?🎾⛳️🏏🏒🏸🏓
💪Lateral Epicondylitis (a.k.a. Tennis elbow) and Medial Epicondylitis (a.k.a. Golfer’s elbow) are both common elbow injuries from the inflammation of Forearm tendons that attach to Humeral Epicondyles.
🏌️♀️In these cases, tendon inflammation is typically caused by repetitive movements and improper body mechanics, like while swinging a club or racket.
🙅Although these 2 injuries are very similar, there is a slight difference: Lateral Epicondylitis occurs on the Lateral Epicondyle of the Humerus, while Medial Epicondylitis occurs on the Medial Epicondyle of the Humerus (hence the names!).
Here are a few exercises to ease/strengthen ALL of the elbow tendons!
‼️UPDATE on Carpal Tunnel Surgery‼️
After only a few weeks post-op, this patient’s wrist is already nearly back to full function! 👏🙌
These simple exercises can drastically improve wrist mobility and strength if done consistently
— and who doesn’t love to play with Putty?🤩
Our marketing director, Hudson, spent a long day advertising at JGS summer camp!
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!
🏓☀️Whether for leisure or for competition, Pickleball is a fun way to stay active this summer!☀️🏓
Stretching before playing Pickleball is a big Dill for injury prevention — so add this 5-minute warmup to your next Pre-Pickleball ritual:
1. 👤Stretch those shoulders with Neck and Shoulder Rolls, Cross-Body Arm Swings, and Cow Face Poses for ~30s each.
2. 💪Warm up those wrists and elbows with Forearm Flexor/Extensor Stretches, Forearm Pronation/Supination, and Overhead Tricep Stretch for ~30s each.
3. 🦵Loosen those legs with Lunges, Calf Raises, Leg Swings, Butt-Kicks, and High-Knees for ~30s each.
Have fun and D**k responsibly this summer!🏓

🫸Carpal Tunnel Syndrome🫷
👉If you have a wrist, you have a Carpal Tunnel! (Carpal = wrist)
However, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is caused by pressure on the Median Nerve that runs through the Carpal Tunnel.
🤌This pressure is usually from flexing your wrists for a prolonged period (typing on a keyboard), which can create pain in your fingers.
✂️ This patient underwent a Carpal Tunnel Release procedure to alleviate the pressure on her Median Nerve.
🫳 Now it’s our job to improve her post-op range of motion through Passive Stretches, Tendon Gliding, and Nerve Gliding. After that, we will focus on overall wrist strength to get her day-to-day function back!🎾✏️🍳
Let’s talk balance! Just as we train muscles, it’s important to train your balance. Balance is super important at all ages and sport; ranging from the high school athlete to older adults. Your neuromuscular system decreases in activity following an injury, and/or as you age, therefore it’s important to address!
Balance relies on 3 senses:
1. Vision
2. Vestibular(inner ears)
3. Proprioception. This is complex and encompasses: ability to sense a change in surface(sand>grass>concrete). Where your limbs are in space(without looking).
Here at Geaux Physical Therapy, we train your balance by occluding one, or two, of these senses in efforts to challenge the others!
Needle master at work! This particular patient is having difficulty with adductor tightness following a hip labral repair. Dry needling is an excellent way to get those stubborn muscles firing again!
Happy Mother’s Day to all the real MVPs!
Shoutout to for the awesome new headshots of our team!

Rotator cuff tears CAN be treated with physical therapy. Most people are quick to jump into surgery once they hear the word “tear”. If surgery is indeed warranted as described below, multiple studies show you’ll have a much better outcome if you have PT prior.
Please advocate for conservative treatment!
Geaux Physical Therapy is celebrating our 3 year anniversary! This past year has been exciting with the addition of our outstanding PT, Tara LaSuzzo.
Thank you to every current and past patient for choosing us. Being a small practice, we appreciate every referral more than you realize!
Want a stronger back? Try the reverse hyper! Your low back possesses some of the largest/strongest muscles in the body, don’t be afraid to work them! This machine is great for doing just that. To my knowledge, the MAC is the only gym in the area that has this machine! Steven Schwab Tara LaSuzzo Monroe Athletic Club
