Meet the newest plant species here at The Conservatory!
Dischidia! These vining and epiphytic plants are native to the tropical regions of Asia! Particularly in China and India!
These plants are often referred to as ‘sister plants’ to the Hoya!
These plants will require similar lighting conditions to the Hoya, they prefer a bright indirect spot, and can produce beautiful flowers under the right conditions!
The Dischidia does not like to dry out all the way, like Hoyas, instead water these plants when the top 50% of the soil has dried out! Usually about once a week! Note that overwatering can cause root rot.
Sadly these beauties are not pet safe.

Can you spot the differences between the Philodendron ‘Black Billietiae’ and the Philodendron Billietiae?
Let’s take a closer look! 👀🪴
At first glance the two plants look very similar!
In the first two slides you can see on the leaves Black Billietiae have more of a ruffled look! Thanks to their cross with the Philodendron atabapoense! The traditional Billietiae have inner creases and ruffles!
Next, take a look at the leaves, the traditional Billietiae have vivid green color compared to the dark green/maroon leaves of the Black Billietiae!
When we take a look at the back of the leaves you can really tell the difference in the colors!
