Let’s talk GLOSS!

The second pic is her hair after we lifted and before we glossed it! This is a great example of the “underlying pigment” I’m always talking about 😎

Everyone “pulls warm” and we need to refine, enhance or redirect these underlying pigments. That’s where Glossing comes in!

In her case we redirected the warmer tones into a more balanced blonde !

A gloss is absolutely amazing and has so many benefits to your hair but it is designed to only last for 4-6 weeks depending on your at home care routine.

Bringing the dimension back!

I used the new Good behavior mask for extra frizz control bc we all know those HUMID days are on their way !

“Chillin’ with dry hair this winter? Same!!! 🥶

Here’s the scoop: Hot showers may feel heavenly, but they’re your hair’s enemy. Opt for lukewarm water, (ok we all know we aren’t going to do that but it needs to be said lol 😂)

Rock that deep conditioner weekly, always use your heat protection when styling and don’t forget to book your gloss in between color or add on a treatment and you’re good to go! 💁‍♀️✨

Maybe you want to change it up this time, or maybe it’s been a while since you have been in the salon & You’re super excited 🎉but maybe you’re just a tad nervous … it’s totally ok ! I get it! Change can bring out so many emotions! I understand that completely! 🤗

Trusting the process & your stylist is super important. Our main goal is always for you to love your hair and more importantly, to feel amazing when you leave AND all the days In between!

Side note the internet calls it “expensive brunette “ but that has never set well with me so I’m not calling it that. 😂 Who comes up with the names ?

We are all in our “copper era” and I’m obsessed!

Starting color ar first session is on the right.

The end goal is an all over ash/mushroom brown but keeping her roots her natural color (for now ) We are almost there !

The main thing to remember when going to a “ash/mushroom “ color , is that the gloss will last for about 4-6 weeks. After that , a gloss session will help rebalance the warmth!

My favorite thing about brunette color is that glossy ✨SHINE ✨

Brunette color is super low maintenance but will always “fade/pull” warm. If warmth is not your jam, that’s ok! You can keep it balanced with regular gloss maintenance appointments in between or a pigment depositing mask at home! I can recommend a few great ones !

1. Do you want to look in the mirror and see blonde first or brunette? (Aka : do you still want to feel like a brunette)

2. Do you want to see blonde around your face ?
-if so how strong do you want it?

3. Have you had blonde in the past ? What did you love about it, and what didn’t you love?

4. What tones do you like best ? Warm, neutral, cool?

5. Are you looking for low maintenance?

6. This one isn’t really a question but it’s super important to me that you know that your texture will change and it will need a LOT of moisture and a great home care routine ❤️🤗

It’s primarily reds, copper, brown-reds ect. There is no “perfect formula” that will look the same on on everyone. It fully depend on your starting point and hair type, etc.. which copper will look best on you !

🧡How much maintenance are you looking for? Reds tend to fade pretty quickly.

Prepped with Redken Acidic Bonding Leave in treatment and always (my fav) IGK Good Behavior spray for heat protection.

Blown out with a large Olivia Garden round brush & wet brush pro. ( make sure that you use your concentrator attachment for your dryer to reduce frizz and heat damage)

Curled with 1 1/2 inch curling iron alternating directions for a more textured look. Let cool!

Finished with IGK Beach Club Texture spray, yes it smells like the BEACH 🏖 Fluff and your done!

Want to brighten up but still feel like your natural hair?

Ask for Tones that complement your natural hair color and skin tone.

Don’t go too light, or to dimensional.

Look for inspiration photos that are similar to your hair and your complexion.

Ask for color to come close but not touching the root area.

I am ALWAYS going to cut a little bit, take the cape off, let you check it out and get your hands in it before cutting more 😅 NEVER be afraid to ask me to cut more!

FACT OR MYTH? 💡

Hair takes color better when it’s dirty.

It’s a MYTH :
Hair color needs a clean and dry canvas to work on.

If there is too much product or build up on the hair, it can slow the color process down, hinder lightening, and even negate how the color works.

If you want to go a bright blonde, freshly washed hair is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

That being said, if you are getting an all over color, like covering those greys, a days worth of natural oils (not products) will help protect your scalp.

Fight Frizz with these tips!!

🌸 Silk pillow case

🌸 Microfiber towel

🌸 Never sleep with wet hair

🌸 Use your concentrator nozzle on blowdryer and direct air flow down when drying.

🌸 Amika dream routine on ends before bed!

🌸 Use sulfate free shampoo and don’t skip conditioner!

🌸 Avoid friction while towel drying or shampooing ends.

Why does my hair always “pull warm “?

The easiest way I can break it down is that it’s due to melanin.

Everyone has either Eumelanin, Pheomelanin or a combo of both in their hair. These determine the amount of warmth your hair will expose when lifting or shifting to a lighter shade of hair. (Darker hair has more reds and lighter hair has more yellow)

It’s my job to balance these undertones in a way that complements your skin tone, keeps your hair healthy and make you feel beautiful!
