Most Baby Foods on the Market Aren't Healthy, Study Says 08/23/2024

According to a new study that looked at over 600 products from the top 10 grocery stores in the U.S., nearly 60% of baby foods don’t meet the nutrition standards set by the World Health Organization (WHO). The study was published this week in the journal Nutrients.

The researchers found that 70% of products for infants and toddlers failed to meet the organization’s protein requirements and 44% exceeded total sugar requirements.

Oncologists have attributed the uptick in cancer diagnoses among young adults to a diet consisting of junk food and processed meat.

The World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified processed meat as “carcinogenic to humans,” noting that there is “sufficient evidence from epidemiological studies that eating processed meat causes colorectal cancer.”

Nasal spray alternative to EpiPen for allergic reactions is approved by FDA 08/13/2024

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved ARS Pharmaceuticals’ nasal spray as the first needle-free emergency treatment for potentially fatal allergic reactions.

The spray, which will be sold under the brand name neffy, is seen as an alternative to EpiPen and other autoinjectors that are filled with epinephrine, a life-saving drug used by people at risk of anaphylaxis and other allergic reactions.

A listeria outbreak tied to Boars Head deli meats has sickened nearly three dozen people across the country, killing two, including one in New Jersey.

The recalled liverwurst products were produced between June 11, 2024, and July 17, 2024. Other recalled sliced deli meats were produced on June 27, 2024, and were also distributed nationwide.

The USDA is urging consumers who have purchased these products to not consume them and immediately throw them out or return them to their place of purchase.
