You've heard of the Golden Gazette...we would like to present the Strollin' Gazette! The next issue of the Golden Gazette will appear as the Strollin' Gazette at our local Author Fest on Saturday, November 2.

The theme is re-imagine. We are accepting art, poetry, and short stories that are 300 words or less. What you decide to re-imagine is completely up to you! Is it a new cover for your favorite book? A re-telling of a fairy tale? A new ending? A famous painting? Each approved submission will be displayed around the library during our next Local Author Fest on November 2, 2024. All submissions will then be published digitally in the next issue. The application deadline is September 15. We can't wait to see what you create!

For more information, and to submit work, please visit https://moorestownlibrary.org/get-involved/ -Gazette.

It's Where in the World Wednesday and we're checking in on our collaborative map display! We've got the UK covered pretty well, but Iceland is looking a little lonely. May we suggest picking up Reykjavík by Ragnar Jónasson or How the Ladies Stopped the Wind Hardcover by Bruce McMillan?

When you're finished reading, pop by our map in the New Book Section and place a star sticker to indicate where your story took place!

We had a blast kicking off our Bioblitz Week last Saturday! Adult Services Librarian Erin spoke about the project and showed off a Blinded Sphinx moth to patrons on their walk around the library to get the observations started. We even found evidence of a threetooth snail that lived nearby.

You can still get in on the action by downloading the iNaturalist app and documenting all the flora and fauna you find in Moorestown now through Friday. Post your discoveries under the Moorestown Library Bioblitz Project in the app. Remember, each entry is one more chance to win a prize!

2nd Street Market is this week and we're celebrating Disabilities Pride Month! We'll still be outside for story time at 5pm and we will also have some indoor events at the library for those who would prefer a more quiet celebration. This will include arts and crafts in the Collab Lab and beginner karate in Meeting Room A.

July is Disabilities Pride Month! Mark your calendars for a festival on July 11th that is inclusive to all members of our community! MooreUnity and The Rotary Club of Moorestown are partnering to host Abilities Fest from 5-8 p.m. at the Moorestown Municipal Complex. Classical Guitarist Keith Calmes is back by popular demand!

Although usually considered a classical guitarist, Keith's musical diversity can be attested to. He has studied with Jazz master Jim Hall and opened for surf legend Dick Dale. A deep interest in Indian rhythms has led to studies and performances with percussion virtuoso Selvaganesh Vinayakram and his family band.

Keith's performance credits include a Carnegie Hall recital debut as Winner of the Artists International Competition, concerti with the Monmouth Symphony, a performance with Maestro Carlos Barbosa-Lima and many concerts and recordings with flautist Marjorie Koharski.

This concert is sponsored by the Friends of the Moorestown Library and Wegman's.
