MCFD: Sirens and Lights, Move Right
Hear sirens and see lights? Pull right and stop to make way for emergency responders, like Morehead City Fire-EMS. These safety protocols can help emergency responders get to a scene quickly, while also avoiding an accident of your own. - When you see red lights or hear sirens, safely pull to the right side of the road. - Stop completely to allow the emergency vehicle to pass. - Remain stopped until the emergency vehicle has passed. - Always stay alert and aware of your surroundings. - Do not block intersections when stopping for emergency vehicles. - Resume driving only when it's safe and clear. Keep an eye to see if the emergency responders are making a turn and give them wide berth when you do resume driving.

When a tropical storm or hurricane is approaching the area, please be mindful of guidance from area officials, especially when it comes to States of Emergency, and evacuation or curfew notices. Sgt. MCPD: National Donut Day
Have you ever wondered why police officers and donuts are often associated? Back in the day, donut shops were open longer hours than other establishments, which meant they were ideal for officers who needed a bite during night shift, but also made them prone to robberies. They realized it was cheaper to give officers free donuts, coffee and a place to work on their reports, than to hire security. Happy National Donut Day from the Morehead City Police Department!

MCPD Special Olympics Torch Run 2024
On Tuesday, May 7th, members of the Morehead City Police Department and other neighboring agencies, to include the NC State Highway Patrol, and Beaufort, Pine Knoll Shores and Newport Police departments, participated in the Law Enforcement Special Olympics Torch Run. The group began at MCPD, at 300 N. 12th Street, and continued along Arendell Street to the western end of Morehead City. It was a collaborative effort, between those carrying the torch and running, to other officers helping to direct traffic. This is an awareness event for the NC Special Olympics and is one way our department supports this initiative.
