We are grateful for a community that is so generous and willing to support each other! For the inaugural Stuff the Cruiser - Teacher Edition, we were able to fill two Morehead City Police Department vehicles full of donations that will be distributed to Morehead City teachers soon.

In addition to the public donating items from the wish list, MCPD received nearly $1,300 in monetary donations today. That money was immediately used to purchase more items from the teachers' wish list. Thank you to everyone who contributed, and to Wal-mart Supercenter staff for going above and beyond to help make this possible. WNCT-TV will have a highlight of the event airing this evening.

With yet another round of heavy showers and thunderstorms popping up the flash flood threat will continue this afternoon and evening. Saturated soils and pre-existing standing water will cause flooding issues more quickly than normal. Do not drive in areas where water covers the road.

08/10/2024

Worth repeating: Never drive through standing water. Turn around, don’t drown!

Morehead City has experienced flooded roadways this morning, and the Flash Flood Watch has been extended to at least midnight. If you must go out, please drive with extreme caution.

8/10/24 @ 7:50 AM - You guessed it! The rain continues today with torrential downpours possible. Our soils are saturated from the copious amounts of rain we've received over the past few days, so flooding remains a concern. A Flood Watch is in effect until midnight for everywhere except Cape Hatteras and Ocracoke.
