Slidewater Ranch
We are an urban farm in Moreno Valley, California. We raise Nigerian Dwarf Goats and other critters.
The bedroom, our fancy designer flooring, the bathroom, the kitchen and the living room view. The neighbors are a little loud though.
When Christina Noall messages me and says congratulations on Kona and I say “for what?” 🤯
I’m so happy to have Noall’s Ark animals in my herd and they are blending well with my Hidden Hills and Wolfivan genetics. Look at the milk records and look at ADGA Genetics. Such consistency! There are some beautiful kids still available!
A herd of wild donkeys passing through ❤️
I think we are on revision number 5, but if all the pieces come together there will be some exciting kids born next spring!
And so it begins. Love is in the air. 🤢
Doing a major rewrite on my breeding plan. Since Slidewater and Hidden HIlls Nigerian Dairy Goats have joined forces, there are a lot more moving parts (but in a good way). Now add in my daughter’s wedding - which is obviously a priority ❤️ and 🤯😂
Melissa (Tyler’s mom) sent this to me yesterday. Nationals 2023. What a great experience! All three of these pretty Hidden Hills girls recently came to live at Slidewater Ranch. The demands on Jennifer’s time both personally and professionally are still great and I’m so grateful and honored that she has entrusted more of her beloved goats to me to get on milk test and in the show ring. Welcome Flor del Rio, Acts Like Summer and Walks Like Rain. We will be doing a repeat breeding of Rain to my buck Wolfivan Re*****on. Those kids were stunning. Summer and Rio are tentatively scheduled to be bred to Old Mountain Farm Yellow Cake who is co-owned by Hidden Hills, HJ Summit and Wolfivan.
It was a ridiculously hot day for a milk test but I had to get it done. As expected, all the girls dropped a bit in production. Slidewater V Cleo and Hidden Hills Juicy Fruit are normally the top two, but Cleo’s daughter Slidewater Kona (sire is Noall’s Ark J Maverick) beat them both milking 4.5 pounds as a Yearling FF and about 63 days in milk. 🤩 Both Cleo and Juicy milked 4.3 pounds.
Temperature in my milk room. No way I’m turning on the oven IN the house so I’m trying crockpot frittata. 🤞🏻
Took a few candid pictures of my boys. Such sweet boys who just don’t understand why I don’t like them rubbing their “cologne” all over me. Wolfivan Re*****on (Hidden Hills Natural Mystic x Wolfivan Tahitian Monoi. Noall’s Ark J Maverick (Noall’s Ark G Gourmandise x Creamery Creek Hey Jude). Slidewater Kronos (Hetlandcreek TT Time Aftr Time x Hidden Hills Dirty Deeds DDC).
Design ideas needed! Pictures would be amazing! In the next year I will be able to design my new barn from the ground up. I’m looking for ideas for my milk room mostly. I really want a way to let the girls in from a large open area, milk and they go out another door into an enclosed area for the night. Hopefully that makes sense.
Hidden Hills Acts Like Summer. Day 3 of milk stand training. She actually got on the stand because she likes the grain so progress. When sitting like a dog wasn’t working, she tried lowering her front end. I won. She’s empty. Look at her face. 😂
New yogurt strainer does a whole gallon! Yes, we eat a lot of yogurt.
Took a candid picture of Burlesque because she looked pretty. Then I saw her tongue. 🤦♀️ Hidden Hills It’s Show Time x Noall’s Ark J Maverick
It’s been hot and windy and a large branch off the Pepper Tree fell a little after 6 pm. We didn’t even hear it. Luckily it fell onto the roof of another building. No goats were hurt. It did a number on some fence panels and was great shade. 😵💫😢 And before anyone asks, the buckets have a little orange Gatorade in them. They aren’t dirty.
I’m trying to link my instagram page with my page. Social media is a lot of work lol.
It’s hot in the milk room. This time of year I wait until 7:30 PM to go back out. 🥵
Websites. Updating them feels like a full time job. I’ve added my tentative 2025 Breeding Schedule but it’s not displaying correctly on my phone. 🤨 Still need to add the keeper kids. 🥳
Slidewater Ranch At Slidewater Ranch we breed quality Nigerian Dwarf Goats. These little goats make wonderful pets and their milk is sweet and tastes amazing!
I got a little crazy hoarding Wolfivan Re*****on (Hidden Hills Natural Mystic x Wolfivan Tahitian Monoi) daughters this year. While working on my breeding plan I asked myself if I really needed 4 full sisters. Dam has her dry leg and consistently places at the top of her class at shows. Two in another herd would be the best choice for Remi’s production data. Comments under photos.
Why is it that all the batteries in my 6 thermometers are low and they all take a different battery. 🤦♀️
We had a great time at the Nutty Goat Show in San Diego this weekend. It was just Justin and I and we didn’t get very many pictures. My 4-year old Slidewater V Chloe placed 1st in all three rings. It was a small class, but all the judge’s comments were very consistent that she is the perfect blend of power, depth and dairy. It was an honor to stand in the championship lineup with her. Her dry yearling daughter Kahlua (a Wolfivan Re*****on daughter) placed 5th (I think), 2nd and 2nd in large classes and I was happy to stand in the second row of the championship lineup with her.
Show day! Big classes! Should be fun!
Got a couple of kids clipped before heading back to the hospital. Jeeze the past two days have been crazy.
What I haven’t shared is the little Abilene and Hidden Hills Chase the Legend buck was born minutes before my husband beginning to have a possible medication reaction after his knee surgery and being taken by ambulance to the ER. Husband is doing well thank goodness. If anyone has interest in this buckling intact I think his name should be “Chase the Ambulance” 😂
He squeaks! It’s a bummer ending the kidding season with another buck but he is pretty cute.
Abilene and Chase had a single buck. 😞 She’s a fantastic mom and the little guy is healthy and very cute. Looks just like his dad.
Both boys have daughters who have freshened very nicely and kids born this year who are very promising!
Slidewater Abilene is in the kidding pen. Abilene is a Wolfivan Re*****on daughter and bred to Hidden Hills Chase the Legend.
