You know you need a pair of wall pockets. This beautiful red glaze jumps right out and the elegant and strong design is representative of Damien Overcash’s .creations style. Damien makes wheel thrown, tight forms and has some singular pieces in the studio. Hope to see you today.
Tiffany Salas, .bysalas has new work in the studio. Her work is loose, creative, thoughtfully designed and made using traditional handbuilding methods. Her work is often paired with colorful glaze contrasting against the warm raw clay body.
Festival all set up and ready to go! Come around town for some egg rolls, pottery, and likely country music. 😎😉🥳
Plenty of pieces in the gallery from all of the artists in time for the Historic Morganton Festival this Friday and Saturday. We’ll have a great booth set up and the store will be open too. Looking forward to seeing new faces!
Work in progress!
Mary Ervin is one of those people that enjoys life fully. She hops between playing music, teaching, making pots and even is known to host a party now and then.
Her work is lively and colorful, just like her. These pieces are off of the wheel and into the underglazing stage. Next will be adding glaze, firing, then off for sale!
Looks like just about 10 years ago…I remember beginning gutting out this place during the Historic Morganton Festival and it was in BAD shape.
This coming weekend we’ll be at the festival but in a different way. Booth outside, funneling people inside the store, which is much lovelier today than it was 10 years ago.
Anndddddd now I want the homemade eggrolls that we always get during the fest. 🙂
Another work in progress picture because I want to show that we WORK at West Union Art Studios. These are candle vessels that are waiting for the kiln. Once finished they’ll be filled with the most amazing candles ever by . Currently there are 85 candles, by the end of the week there will be 150.
Work from the studio has now traveled to every corner of the country. Many of these particular pieces will end up with some of our favorite people up at who run an amazing family owned business.
The holidays make us lock in for the next several months. But that’s good. We make things…lots of things and they’re things that we love. Hope you do too!
Works in progress by Damien Overcash, .creations. Looking good over there with tight forms and clean trimming lines. Can’t wait to see them finished!
If you haven’t been in the store before we are a working studio and gallery with several potters and other artists who utilize the space to make their work. We also have a piano teacher and teach workshops.
On any given day you may run into one or two people making their work while the store is open and catch any part of the making processes of pottery.
We hope to see many new faces during the festival next weekend, but it’s ok…you could also come in today.
