West Virginia Navigator program provides help with health coverage A non-profit is helping West Virginians gain access to health care coverage. Jeremy Smith, program director with West Virginia Navigator, stopped by First Look at Four to explain how it works.

Chloe one of our MSW students presented her SOWK 541 (Rural Community Macro Practice) project at the 2023 International Association of Employee Assistance Professionals in Education (IAEAPE) Conference in Portland, Oregon. She was able to help expand existing programming at her former Graduate Assistantship position at the Faculty Staff Assistance Program to include post-doctoral dental students and bridge a gap in mental health services at WVU. She was also able to aid the President of IAEAPE in designing the marketing materials for the conference!!

Please welcome Kelly Rice, our new Police Social Worker!
The Police Social Worker position, which is brand new for MPD, was designed to serve as a bridge between the police and the community. As such, the Police Social Worker will provide direct service and outreach to individuals who are unsheltered, experiencing mental illness, abusing substances, or otherwise facing crisis.
Kelly Rice, who was selected for the position, is a licensed clinical social worker who possesses an extensive background working with victims of mental health, domestic violence, addiction and more. She also has significant experience with compassionate releases, criminal thinking, victim impact, and crisis intervention.
Kelly is originally from Annapolis, Maryland. She attended graduate school at West Virginia University, where she earned a Master's degree in Social Work. She has previously worked as a Drug Treatment Specialist for FCI Morgantown, a Case Manager for the Hope Inc. Shelter, and most recently, a Social Worker for the United States Penitentiary in Hazelton, WV.
