Many small communities in rural West Virginia do not have the staff or technical expertise to undert
The West Virginia Brownfields Assistance Centers were created to promote economic development and environmental and public health protection through innovative redevelopment of brownfield sites. The Centers promote and coordinate the development of brownfield property by providing training and technical assistance, facilitating site preparation efforts, community involvement as well has helping communities with grant writing and leveraging project funding.
For our Ohio County friends, there is a community meeting on Friday morning at the Ohio County Public Library about flood resilience and mitigation efforts. Please pass along to anyone who can benefit.

Another type of EPA Brownfield Grant is a Multipurpose Grant. These grants are best utilized by communities with multiple brownfields being redeveloped in a concentrated area.

This week, we recognized two of our student employees who recently graduated from West Virginia University. Ella's degree is in painting with a minor in psychology. Haley double majored in political science and international studies with a minor in agricultural and natural resources law. Debriefs are an excellent tool that should be utilized to improve unsuccessful grant applications.
The WV Brownfield Awards recognize the hard work and great achievements in brownfields redevelopment from across the state. These awards recognize individuals and communities who have made major contributions to the redevelopment of brownfields in West Virginia. Nominations are due on July 19.
