The Morro Bay Skateboard Museum is located at 783 Market Avenue. The Morro Bay Skateboard Museum opened in July of 2012. Open seven days a week.
Our mission is to share skateboarding’s history and culture with all ages of skateboarders as well as the general public. Featuring skateboards and memorabilia from the 1930s to present day. Many of the skateboards in the museum are on loan from private collectors such as Stephen Pizzo and Todd Huber's Skatelab - Indoor Skatepark and Skateboarding Hall of Fame Museum. The museum is staffed on a volunteer basis by director Jack Smith, and Eric Terhorst.
The San Luis Obispo International Film Festival comes to the Bay Theater on Monday April, 29th at 5:30.
Stacy Peralta's big wave surfing film "Riding Giants" will be screened and followed by a Q&A session with Stacy.
"Beyond the Sidewalk" a short film about the first crossing of America by skateboard will screen before 'Riding Giants". The three skaters, Jeff French, Mike Filben and myself, who made that first push grew up in Morro Bay.
Hope to see you there!
Here's a film that you might want to check out. It tells the unconventional and deeply personal story of a South Dallas skatepark whose mission is to change the lives of everyone who walks through the gate. The 4DWN skatepark is a resilience hub rooted in skate culture, tackling head-on the challenges of food insecurity and social justice in one of the city’s poorest communities.
It's screening Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 5:30 as part of the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival at the Fremont Theater. Stacy Peralta's Dogtown & Z-Boys will follow the screening of 4DWN.
If you or someone you know is a little tight on cash but would like to attend let me know and I will put you in touch with one of the producers of 4DWN who has a few promo tickets available.
My son Dylan and I are relaunching the MUSEUM line of skate tees and hoodies. We've even added two Morro Bay Skateboard Museum tees to the line-up. Use discount code Black Knight to save 10%.
