Hello everyone. Here are several tips to ensure you stay comfortable during these dangerously frigid conditions:

1) Set your thermostat 3-5 degrees above you normal setting.
2) Set your thermostat on the HOLD position to ensure that it does not revert back to a preprogrammed state.
3) Make sure all supply vents are clear of debris, furniture, etc and that they are fully open.
4) Make sure all return vents are clear of debris, furniture, etc and that they are fully open.
5) Make sure your filter is clean. If you can’t remember the last time you replaced your filter then it’s probably time to install a new one.
6) This pertains to the homes that are operated by a NEST thermostat. Make sure the ECO mode is shut off to prevent the thermostat from going to a much lower temperature while you’re away.
7) DO NOT USE your oven to keep warm.
8 ) Make sure your exhaust and intake pipes are free and clear of any ice build up. This pertains to the homes that have high efficiency equipment.
9)Check on your elderly neighbors 🙂

Please do not be alarmed if you feel that your home comfort system is running all day. This is completely normal! Every single furnace or boiler is designed to work at its greatest efficiency down to 0 degrees so obviously they will work overtime once we get into those negative temps. Also, do not be surprised if you see that your set temperature is not being reached. As long as your radiators are hot and your vents are blowing warm air your system is functioning as best as it can.
