This customer brought her heirloom family Christening gown to me a few weeks ago and needed a few names added on. 🥹 These are the types of jobs we literally pray over. There is no replacing a family heirloom should it become damaged. Placement must be perfect. Stitching must be on point. Stabilizer must be carefully placed to ensure the thin cotton fibers don’t split. These types of pieces turn moments to precious memories. Now, with 3 generations of baptized family embroidered into the threads of this gorgeous gown.

In case you missed it in stories last week, we stitched up these pretty sweaters for a first birthday celebration using the girls own premie onesies. Totally personal. Completely precious. 🎀

And, to add to the sweetness, the Mama had donated all of this clothing to a local resale shop, and Dad went along behind her and bought it all up in order to make these gifts for his girls. I mean. Come on. Dad of the Decade right there! 🏆

Trying something a little bit different this year. Rather than closing for our normal two weeks in July, we’re simply going to adjust our weekly hours a bit. We will be open 11-6, Wednesdays through Saturdays.

A summer goal for Stitch & Gather is to create a more seamless online shopping experience and to showcase an up-to-date selection of the amazing products we offer in store. Having these extra days behind the seams will help us facilitate this.

Beaching, not Teaching! 🌴 🌊 🐚

We have been blessed over the years with some truly incredible educators, who inevitably become sweet friends. 💕 I’ll bet the same for many of you. It is a real calling to teach the youth of today.

We arrived in Sarasota not knowing a single soul and this particular teacher made Mary Kate’s transition into 3rd grade almost seamless. MK thoroughly enjoyed being in Mrs. B’s class, she grew leaps and bounds in her reading & math and finished the school year with a heap of precious friends. Teachers do sew much more than just reading & math. They create a loving environment for our kiddos to spend 7 hours/day, 180 days/year. And many of them, do it so, so well!
