Thirsty Troll Brew Fest

Even trolls know drunk driving is stupid and we're not sure they hold valid driver's licenses...don't be stupid and use the free shuttle available! 🚌💨🚨

Free shuttles will be available between downtown Mount Horeb, WI, the Mount Horeb Park & Ride, and Tyrol Basin so you can grab a bite to eat at your favorite Mount Horeb restaurant before or after the festival (or both).

We hear you--change can be scary. Jorgen the Troll says beer helps (and we're bringing you plenty of that on September 7). 🤪🍻

You might be wondering, What the heck?! Why would they move Thirsty Troll Brew Fest!? Well, we thought we'd let you in on the backstory!

The Thirsty Troll Brew Fest is organized by the Mount Horeb Area Chamber of Commerce's Tourism Events Committee. Over the past several years, the chamber has implemented key performance indicators that we use to measure an event's performance. One KPI is the number of overnight stays produced by the event, and another is the economic impact an event makes in the community.

We use software to analyze cell phone data to determine an event's attendance, and we can see exactly where people come from and where they go afterwards, and consistently over the past several years, our attendees have come from home and returned home after the event. They are not visiting shops and restaurants, and they are not staying at our local lodging properties.

We also survey our member businesses, including retail, restaurants, and lodging properties, to determine the impact our events have on these businesses. The feedback we've received corroborates the cell phone data. It became clear to us that over the past several years, the brew fest has not been generating very much economic impact in the local economy. For the most part, people come, they enjoy the festival, and they head home.

So it was with this data that the committee decided to look for ways to grow and expand the event to hopefully draw more people into the community, to encourage overnight stays at our lodging properties, and to encourage patrons to head downtown and take advantage of our great shops and restaurants.

The move to Tyrol Basin gives us a unique venue for the event that we hope will draw more attendees. Our music stage will have a more prominent feature in this event, and we will host four live music performances and offer a ticket for those just wanting to enjoy the music. And we are adding craft spirits into the tasting mix!

We are offering free shuttle service that will transport people from downtwn Mount Horeb and the Mount Horeb Park & Ride, to Tyrol and back. We are encouraging people to carpool with a designated driver (thus the high parking fees), or opt for the free transportation into Mount Horeb.

This year, the Thirsty Troll Brew Fest is will be bigger and quirkier than ever! The festival is moving to Tyrol Basin, Mount Horeb's own ski hill! Be honest - you've always wanted to drink with a troll on a ski hill, right?!

🎤 The music stage will be bigger than ever and will feature a great line up of 4 bands: WheelHouse, Whitney Mann & the Strangers, The Best Westerns, and the Driveway Thriftdwellers!

🥃Our VIP ticketholders will enjoy special brews and (new this year) craft spirits! General Admission ticketholders will enjoy that backyard brew fest vibe, with unlimited tastings of craft brews from across the Midwest!

🍻And new this year, we are offering a Domestic Beer Area, which will give you access to a cash bar and food area, so you can cozy up and enjoy the music!

Join us tomorrow for a Pre-Thirsty Troll Bloody Mary. These loaded Bloodys feature Valhalla Vodka. It's made with Swedish winter wheat and then filtered through Icelandic volcanic rock before it heads stateside to be bottled in Cottage Grove. It is delicious! Mixed up with some Zing Zang and the right amount of fix'ins, you have one of the best Bloodys around!
