So everyone…
If you see me a little teary-eyed these days on the 15th another one of my clients has crossed the rainbow bridge.
Woodrow and I did not get off to a good start when we first met. As a matter of fact he bit me…and he hung on as strong as any pitbull would! My arm still has some little bumps under the skin but I will treasure those little bumps because he was one heck of a good boy and he more than made up and apologized for it with his love and affection every day following the incident it’s gonna be hard for me to go to his home without reminiscing about him (like I do the dogs before him, Wilma, Madi, Charlie)…But I am grateful for having met this little fella.

Just when you think things are hard to bear and you have troubles along comes some thing or someone to lift your spirits and let you know that everything is possible you just have to have the will to survive, adapt and overcome!

As of this morning, our team had ONE large dog kennel available in our adoption room, meaning WE ARE FULL! We already divided all our large kennels in half, dropping a door in the kennel to essentially double our number of large kennels, and we are still full! If you would like to help, there are a few ways you can do that:

🐾 If you have been thinking about adopting a dog, today would be a great time to come by and see all the terrific options we have available! We have many sizes and ages of dogs in a variety of energy levels, so let us help you find the right one!

🐾 If adoption is not an option for you, consider taking in a dog as a foster for a few days, or until we can find a great adoptive home for them. We will provide all the food, supplies and medical attention needed... you just provide the loving home!

🐾 If you encounter a lost pet, try to reunite them with their family before bringing them to us. Check around your neighborhood and talk to those in your community. More often than not, a lost dog is no further than a mile from their home. Post a "found report" to 24PetConnect.com and to some local Lost and Found Facebook groups.

Clients often come to me confused that their otherwise easygoing small dog growls, snaps, or bites when picked up or handled. A few common examples are:
* Moving the dog to another part of the bed at night.
* Picking them up for an unsolicited snuggle.
* Grabbing them when they try to move away.

We don't have science to support that small dogs are more "nippy" than bigger dogs. Due to their size, they've likely experienced lots of unwanted handling over time. We can help small dogs feel safe by conditioning them to different types of handling, letting them opt in and out of handling via consent tests, and learning their body language. ❤️

Thanks to an amazing partnership with Banfield Foundation, that we are so grateful to share with you, we are hosting a series of low-cost monthly community clinics in 2023. Does your pet need vaccines? A microchip? If yes… On 3/18, our ROVER vehicle will be at FiftyForward Donelson Station, located at 108 Donelson Pike in Nashville, which is located near the intersection of Donelson Pike and Lebanon Pike, from 9am-12pm. We will be offering Davidson County residents the following vaccines for $15 each: Rabies, DAPP, DAPPL, Bordetella, and FVRCP. We will also be offering microchips for $10.

No Appointments Needed. Serving the first 100 pets to arrive. Cash and/or Credit payment options only. We ask that all pets please be on a leash or in a carrier. Thank You!
