Scammers are active and ready to take your money, no matter what time of year.

One of the biggest scams right now is check-washing, where a scammer steals a check, removes the writing, and re-writes the check for a higher amount.

Avoid being taken advantage of by not putting a check in your mailbox. Drop it off at the post office.

Paying your bills online can also help protect you.
