KARHU is proud to introduce the newest addition to its lifestyle collection, the Fusion XT. Inspired by the KARHU XT from the mid 90s, the Fusion XT gets its namesake from “cross training” roots. Back in the day, KARHU’s diverse line of product offerings expanded beyond running to feature a rich assortment of court shoes and accessories. The brand- new Fusion XT looks to honour this unique part of KARHU’s heritage.

Born in Finland, KARHU has long celebrated a rich history rooted in love and admiration for the outdoors. As early as the 1930s, KARHU products such as hiking shoes, backpacks, tents, canoes, and paddles were prominently featured in Finnish sporting goods catalogues. This same adventurous spirit of yesteryear still guides our design process to this day as the brand-new Fusion XC looks to carry on KARHU’s proud outdoor legacy combining a unique retro aesthetic with efficient modern functionality.

The Aria 95 featured a mono tongue upper construction for added comfort. This iconic 90s KARHU model is an easy to wear and comfortable shoe and remains an integral part of the FW2024 Karhu Legend collection.

THE SHOE OF CHAMPIONS
The Mestari was introduced to the world in the 1970s with the first trademarked Air Cushion midsole unit in a performance shoe. “Mestari” is the Finnish word for champion, a nod back to the early days when KARHU footwear was referred to as mestarin jalkinee, “the shoe of champions”.

This fall, we look to celebrate our rich history with the release of our iconic silhouette from the 70s, the Mestari.

KARHU LEGACY 96
To have a legacy in sport means you are long lasting, memorable and influential. Karhu, founded in 1916, has been on the feet of Olympic winning performances, invented technologies like air cushion and fulcrum. To honour this heritage, Karhu brings back a running shoe with a name that says it all, the “Legacy”.

First introduced in 1996, the Legacy featured Air Cushion, sandwich heel cap and EVA midsole to make a well- cushioned running shoe with stability, leaving no wish unfulfilled.

Today, the Legacy pays homage to past endeavours not forgotten while looking for adventures in the future.

The new Legacy 96 collection is now available at KARHU.COM.

The Mestari was introduced to the world in the 1970s with the first trademarked Air Cushion midsole unit in a performance shoe. “Mestari” is the Finnish word for champion, a nod back to the early days when KARHU footwear was referred to as mestarin jalkinee, “the shoe of champions”.

The Mestari became an instant top seller, and our novel Air Cushion technology would go on to be replicated throughout the industry.

The Mestari is re-texturised through the eyes of Pien Barendregt and Maxime van Namen, making it contemporary and adding to its legacy.

This intimate and playful campaign is a direct reflection of the ‘play dates’ that creative makers, Pien and Maxime, spent together visiting fabric stores for inspiration from the broad spectrum of materials, textures, and colours.

Pien Studio is a design studio and fashion brand based in Amsterdam that focuses on textile craft products. The Mestari is now available at select retailers worldwide and on www.karhu.com.

The Fusion 2.0 is a tribute to the original 1996 model of the same name, once the top shoe in the KARHU collection. In collaboration with the original designer, KARHU has reinterpreted the Fusion to bring back this iconic design in a sneaker for today.

THE BRAND-NEW FUSION XT HONOURS KARHU’S CROSS- TRAINING HERITAGE
KARHU is proud to introduce the newest addition to its lifestyle collection, the Fusion XT. Inspired by the KARHU XT from the mid 90s, the Fusion XT gets its namesake from “cross training” roots. Back in the day, KARHU’s diverse line of product offerings expanded beyond running to feature a rich assortment of court shoes and accessories. The brand- new Fusion XT looks to honour this unique part of KARHU’s heritage.

Throughout the creative process, the KARHU design team consulted our back catalogues and was struck by several models from the 90s. The iconic M-logo and overlay side panels adorning the Fusion XT take design notes from the 1996 Fusion. For increased security and on-foot comfort, the specialized upper includes a heel stabilizer and fixed tongue. We’ve also taken inspiration from the 1993 KARHU Ultra and resurrected our unique Twin System Air Cushion for maximum comfort and all-day wear. True to its cross-training DNA, the Fusion XT prioritizes function and utilizes a full rubber outsole for better grip and traction.

To bring this exciting new offering to life, the photoshoot for the Fusion XT tells the story of family and the rituals of sneaker culture. How to lace, style, and care for your sneakers is a passion and an art that parents and siblings across the globe wilfully teach and pass on to the younger generation with pride. We look to keep this tradition of iconic style and heritage silhouettes alive with the introduction of the Fusion XT.

Meet the newest member of the KARHU family, the Fusion XT, which gets its namesake from “cross-training” roots.

To complement the Sun Run collection, KARHU designed limited edition sunglasses by Alba Optics. These glasses pay homage to the iconic “Sun Run” race held in Finland and Sweden, designed to enhance both your performance and style. They blend the vibrant colors of the Sun Run with the timeless DELTA silhouette, drawing inspiration from the sporty aesthetics of the 1980s and 1990s.

In Turin’s Stadio Comunale, Matti Järvinen took home the gold in the javelin with a world record throw of 76.6 meters. This was just one of ten consecutive world records that the Finnish javelin thrower and KARHU athlete achieved throughout his impressive career which also includes Olympic gold at the 1932 Games in Los Angeles. Järvinen would go on to repeat gold at the 1938 European Championships in Paris, further growing the legend of Finland’s success on and around the track.

In keeping with a curatorial approach to collaborative works, SPECTRUM teams up with KARHU and Finnish graffiti artist EGS to introduce the limited edition “Three Letters” KARHU Aria 95.

KARHU PARTNERS WITH SPECTRUM AND FINNISH ARTIST EGS TO DELIVER THE ARIA 95 “THREE LETTERS”
The design draws inspiration from EGS’s visionary glass sculptures, shaping the shoe with a pristine upper crafted from premium materials. A mix of long-hair suede, premium short-hair suede, buttered leather, and nylon ripstop details in very light colors encapsulate the fragility of blown glass, delivering a unique multi-sensorial experience.

Distinctive E-G-S letter-like forms are meticulously embossed on the heels, faithfully mirroring the colors and shapes of his original graffiti and artworks. The clear outsole, executed to mimic glass, proudly displays EGS’s trademark patterns.

This commitment to artistic ex*****on extends seamlessly to the shoes’ insoles, which feature custom EGS sketches and co-branded logos. Complete with two sets of laces and presented in a custom box with matching wrapping paper, this limited-edition Aria 95 stands as a testament to the harmonious fusion of premium materials and meticulous ex*****on in every detail.

THE ALBATROSS CONTROL,
A STURDIER VERSION OF ITS PRECURSOR
The Albatross Control reimagines a novel traction pattern from our past in a robust, slip-resistant package. While looking through Karhu’s back catalogues, our design team came across an early model of the Albatross that featured a sleek contoured heel counter and a unique non-slip outsole.

To compliment the enhanced outsole, we’ve added more body to the shoe, increasing the thickness of the midsole by adding an extra stripe of EVA for additional cushion and support. The Albatross Control also utilizes rope laces and a plush nylon tongue with binding, a nod to the Synchron TBA, a model from the mid 80s, for added style and comfort.

The category of shoes known as Synchron first made its debut in 1980, introducing a unique lacing system in the toebox that set this shoe apart from other footwear. The innovative design aimed to provide a better fitting upper for added comfort and durability. The Synchron Classic, the 90s edition features an air cushion unit and a stable heel cap to ensure a supportive and comfortable experience with every step.

KARHU is proud to announce a special outdoor- themed collaboration with Hiroshi Nozawa’s Japanese label norbit. Inspired by the concept of “HIKING”, this exciting new project features an updated colour and material construction of the Fusion XC, KARHU’s functional all-weather silhouette, along with a water repellent shell and pant combo in two different colourways from norbit. norbit has selected a colour palette for the Fusion XC that is slightly lighter than either of the shell/pant combinations yet is designed to match with either in perfect balance.

The all-around apparel capsule designed by norbit features a nano water-repellent applied to wide tapered pants with a soft-shell base and salt shrink nylon for reinforcement. norbit’s signature hip and knee patches adorn each pant offering a hint of style and functionality. Likewise, KARHU’s Fusion XC utilizes a HydroGuard®️ waterproof membrane to keep feet warm and dry even in extreme conditions.

THE KARHU MOUNT SAANA PACK REIMAGINES AN INSTANT CLASSIC
The revival of the Mount Saana pack is comprised of the Fusion XC in three unique iterations identical in colourway and material ex*****on to the original Fusion 2.0 launch from 2015.

Developed in the spirit of several shoes from Karhu’s back catalogues, the Fusion XC features a taped M-logo reminiscent of the 1996 Fusion AP. The outsole utilizes an updated version of our signature T-profile lug pattern that was used on many Karhu shoes from the previous century, including the iconic Synchron Classic.

In addition to these historic design nods, the Fusion XC is equipped with the same modern Fulcrum technology found in our running shoes and a plush Air Cushion midsole. Further technical features include a toe bumper, a fully gusseted tongue, and a waterproof HydroGuard®️ membrane.

KARHU PARTNERS WITH SPECTRUM AND LA VERITIERA MÖLKKY TO CELEBRATE LATEST DROP MÖLKKY-STYLE!

We teamed up with Milan-based retailer and like-minded creative community La Veritiera Mölkky to host an evening of fun and games with a Finnish twist. The “MÖLKKY BLOKKPARTY” was held at the iconic Bocciofila Martesana in Milan to celebrate the rise in popularity of Finland’s sensational backyard throwing game, Mölkky.

Designed, sourced, and produced completely in Finland, the game of challenges teams or individuals to score fifty points by throwing a wooden stick at smaller wooden pins each with their own individual point value. Over the past decade, Mölkky has taken the gaming world by storm, including in Italy, where amateur clubs such as La Veritiera Mölkky have formed out of their collective passion for the game.

La Veritiera Mölkky was founded in 2022 by multifaceted artists and Milanese nightlife agitators Loris Gentile and Mino Luchena. Together with other creatives, they’ve made it their goal to weave Mölkky into the very fabric of the Italian underground scene.

KARHU, Finland's favorite running brand, invites you to join us in our efforts to outfit 500 local students from your community with the proper footwear needed to participate in the sport of running. KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate is a charter high school in Lynn, which is part of the KIPP MA public charter school network. KIPP MA has schools in Boston and Lynn, and their Lynn district serves over 1,600 students across two campuses, grades 9 12 on Wheeler St and K-8 on High Rock St. KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) Public Schools is a network of 280 public charter schools that prepares students with the skills and confidence to create the future they want for themselves, their communities, and us all.

KARHU believes that running and the healthy choices that support it are a key part of this confidence-building process. Our goal is to raise $10,000, all proceeds raised through this event will be used to purchase shoes for every high school student and any additional funds will be donated directly to KIPP’s philanthropic goals to support their work that goes above and beyond a normal K-12 education.
