Meet Buckeye "Toofie" He's a student in our Feral 2 Friendly (F2F) Program trapped as part of our Wood Project. The term "feral" is being used loosely here, Toofie is nervous and scared. He's not aggressive. He is learning about trust and that humans are friends. So while we use the term "feral" in our program, it's more about giving a chance to those cats who are often overlooked and discounted because they need some time and patience to learn how to be the purrfect cat companion. We do work with cats that are feral... have you seen the recent video of Lionel? He was feral-feral. Here you can see how foster mom is relaxed and patient. She is taking cues from him and going at his pace. You can tell he really wants to try the churu on foster moms finger. This is huge progress for him since before he wouldn't even come out during meal/treat time. We know with some more time, patience and a lot of love, he'll be ready for his very own furever home! Lionel was once a VERY aggressive feral that would scare you when you were just walking by ! He would hiss and lunge and charge you. Over time, he softened and turned Into a teddy bear. This amazing creature gets heart meds every day and is gentle and kind to everyone he meets! He is my favorite prince !! Tuesday he will be going for his cardio recheck - hoping the meds are helping and we will have many more years with this handsome fluff! He doesn’t look as afraid and has relaxed so much more with other kitties around and just being allowed to decompress and be who he is. No expectations is key! Calliope.... isn't into teenage boys yelling at a TV while playing said video games. She prefers to hang upstairs with foster mom. Remember the little guy who was running on route 130 and took 9 hours to trap!? This was part of his intake to get him clean and flea free ! Every rescue gets flea combed, some bathed, topical, deworming immediately to start them on their journey to a happy healthy life! This guy is very nervous still but he is safe and loved 🖤 Not replying to the silly and unproductive comments anymore wasting my time - he is NOT sedated - he is NOT in shock. He is not dying. He is a scared and tired baby. We don’t need bath tips and know what we are doing for the safety of the animals and our volunteers. I won’t allow someone to get bitten which forces a rabies quarantine - and possible vaccines for the human (which we do care about) , only skilled people do the baths , it’s not cruel, if they are dirty and have fleas crawling on them they need the eggs dirt and fleas off them for their health and the safety of animals in the Foster’s home as fleas can transmit viruses/sickness. Stop the insanity people. We have nothing to hide and I was there with the kitten I’m well aware what was done and not done and if he was in shock he would not have been bathed. Give us a little credit would ya? Update coming 🖤

Update on our sweet little man with the tape tube around his neck when found - we have made some amazing progress! 💥he is officially allowing nose scratches 💥he takes churu /treats from my hand 💥he doesn’t hide when we are in the room Annnnddd 💥he is now eating in front of everyone not waiting til we are gone! These are all huge strides in his socialization. And road to freedom (cage free!) Thank you to everyone who loves him, follows him and seeks updates on him!
