Food and grocery delivery drivers make their living on tips. If you use DoorDash, GrubHub, UberEats or any other service and don’t think you need to pay a tip, you cannot afford the service. The basic delivery fees barely cover gas and vehicle costs, so if you do not leave a tip you are effectively stealing someone’s time.
Now group order con artists are arranging office orders with a tip, but after collecting the money from each person fail to pass the tips on to the driver - stealing the money. If you are alright with having your pay taken from you, or feel entitled because you don’t make much, try making nothing. That is what you are doing by not paying a tip. Delivery companies are now exploring black listing non- tippers and will use the data they have collected to decide who gets their deliveries.
Please think about it before you rip off a delivery driver.
