HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK IF ALONE:

1. Let’s say it’s 7.25pm and you’re going home (alone of course) after an unusually hard day on the job.
2. You’re really tired, upset and frustrated.
3 Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to drag out into your arm and up in to your jaw. You are only about five miles from the hospital nearest your home.
4. Unfortunately you don’t know if you’ll be able to make it that far.
5. You have been trained in CPR, but the guy who taught the course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself.

CALL 911, UNLOCK YOUR DOOR,. CHEW AN ASPIRIN. Then,

6. Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.
7. However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.
8. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital.
9. Tell as many other people as possible about this. It could save their lives!!
10. A cardiologist says If everyone who reads this post, kindly sends it to 10 people, you can bet that we’ll save at least one life.
11. Rather than sending jokes, please... contribute by forwarding (or copying) this post which can save a person’s life.
12. If this post comes around you... more than once… please don’t get irritated... You should instead, be happy that you have many friends who care about you & keeps reminding you how to deal with a Heart attack. Shared from a friend

Below are the steps High Tide CPR is taking to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses during any type of in-person or classroom activities. We are adhering to the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or (CDC).

𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠:
To reduce in-person initial training classroom, we are offering initial virtual training using Health & Safety Institute videos that will be provided to you by email. You will receive a link with the training videos and a second link for practice you can watch in the privacy of your own home or office, at your own speed.

𝐈𝐧-𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
Once completed with the videos, we will arrange a time and location to complete the scenario Skills Verification portion of the training that will take approximately (30) minutes per person. For this portion, your instructor will review the procedures we take during all in-person classes to minimize the risk of infection. When using manikins and other training devices, the following steps are taken:

Before any hands-on skills verification, all CPR manikins and AED training devices shall be wiped down and disinfected using Clorox wipes.

Instructors and students shall wear face coverings during any in-person training, it is understood and acceptable for brief periods of the skills verification the mask will have to be lowered.

Instructors and students shall perform hand hygiene using soap and water for at least (20) seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol will be provided as needed.

At a minimum, hand hygiene should be performed at the beginning and end of the skills verification.

Instructors and students shall wear provided nitrile exam gloves during all skill practices and assessment scenarios.

Instructors and students shall use the provided breathing barrier when giving rescue breaths.

There will be (6) feet of separation of students and instructors at all times, as well as no physical contact for the skills.

When performing CPR, the risk of disease transmission is extremely low, especially when using a breathing barrier.

An updated 1:1 student-to-manikin ratio will apply, along with a 1:1 student-to-AED training device ratio, or end-of-class level cleaning for manikins and AED training devices between students.

Appropriate cleaning of all class materials and surfaces, based on CDC guidance and the manufacturers’ approved processes for those cleaning products.

𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
All CPR manikins and AED training devices shall be wiped down and disinfected using Clorox wipes.

𝐁𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐧-𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬:
If you have been ill or have any signs of illness within (24) hours prior to the class (fever, cough, breathing difficulties/shortness of breath, or other symptoms) you should not attend class and instead contact us to reschedule your training. When scheduling classes, you will be reminded about rescheduling if you have any symptoms of illness prior to class.

All non-disposable equipment and manikins used during the class will have been cleaned prior to student use. The cleaning process:
 Follows CDC guidance, including updated COVID-19 guidance
 Is based on manufacturers’ directions
 Adheres to use instructions for cleaning products
