5th graders celebrated completing their Unit on Ancient Civilizations by creating masks to represent themselves, similar to how the Maya, Inca, and Aztec would. It was so cool to see all the different designs!
We had a PAWS-itively amazing time celebrating October's Book of the Month, Just Gus. Students in grades 2-5 spent the morning discussing key parts of the story, as well as creating a Puppy Chow snack mix. Book Club has really created a community of readers at CPE. Keep reading, Coyotes!
Congratulations to our September ALPHA award winner - Jackie Gold. See what Coyote Nation had to say. Congratulations Mrs. Gold - you are awesome!
Jackie arrives at school every morning with a smile on her face. She gives everyone a fresh start every day and is so patient. She is making a positive impact with each and every student she serves. She is faced daily with tough decisions and situations and handles it all with such grace.
I believe Jackie deserves this nomination for so many reasons! She is one of the most patient & kind people that I have ever met. She has an amazing way of calming students with her words. Each one of her students feels seen and heard by her. She works so hard everyday and is prepared for absolutely anything. She is amazing to watch and I've learned so much from her.
Our Kindergarten students had a fantastic day at the pumpkin patch at Boone Hall! They explored the lifecycle of pumpkins, enjoyed a fun hayride, and learned about the important role of bees in pollination. To top it off, each child got to take home their very own pumpkin. It was an exciting and educational experience for all!
Kindergarten students and 5th grade students enjoyed meeting and reading with their buddies. The students will meet weekly to share books and their love for reading! This is one of the many culture and community building initiatives at CPE! š ā¤ļø
Fourth and fifth graders had a special visit from the Citadel cadets. The cadets led a 45-minute lesson all about heroism. Students learned that anyone can be a hero by being kind and helping others. The students then got to write personalized cards to the HEROS in their lives. The fun continued outside of the classroom when the cadets came to lunch and recess. This is an event we look forward to every year and we thank the Citadel cadets for continuing this opportunity for our students!
Carolina Park had a blast celebrating Unity Day! October is National Bullying Prevention Month. One of the initiatives we do that focuses on bullying is recognizing Unity Day. All students and staff members were encouraged to wear orange - and we had quite the ORANGE out at our school! Wearing orange empowers those who are bullied, and everyone around them, to speak up and reach out with kindness, acceptance and inclusion. This was a great reminder that Carolina Park is a bully free zone!
Gardening gurus! Second graders are all hands on deck as they planted their fall gardens. They are looking forward to watching their plants grow and harvesting in a couple of months. š±
What an awesome way to start our Friday! Wando's NHS (National Honor Society) was on hand to welcome our students with high-fives and applause this morning. We are so thankful for our extended school community!
Mrs. Francoās class joined Miss Doyleās class to make a Scarecrow Season Snack Mix. Their News2You article this week was all about the Great Pumpkin Farm Fall Festival in Clarence, New York.

Third graders just wrapped up their animal classification unit with a roar! These impressive researchers published infographics on their chosen animals and built dioramas to showcase their habitats and then celebrated their hard work at the Zoo Extravaganza!
Guest author, McCall Hoyle, visited grades 3-5. She shared her award-winning and best-selling books, Just Gus, Stella and Millie. Her passion for writing inspired students to begin creating their own stories, because ideas are all around us! Thank you Carolina Park PTO for sponsoring this wonderful event.
More 5th grade fraction work! Students worked in groups to solve the puzzle to make a picture on simplifying fractions.
5th Graders ended their Adding and Subtracting Fractions Unit with a Fractions Pizza Celebration. Students practiced creating equivalent fractions, adding & subtracting fractions, comparing fractions & the better buy strategy!
Congratulations to our student-artists whose artwork was selected to appear in this year's Carolina Park Elementary yearbook!
