The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) published a Final Rule modifying requirements for certain cattle and bison producers who ship animals across state lines. Specifically, the Final Rule, set to go into effect on November 5, 2024, will require ear tags that are both visually and electronically readable for interstate movement of certain bison and cattle.

Wow! What a great week at the District IV 4-H Ultra Leadership Lab! We had amazing youth from across our district. They were so respectful, ready to learn, lead, and a fun group to work with. The leadership sessions were built around the theme of “Lead to Change.” We empowered them to take what they learned and implement it in their own 4-H Clubs. I can’t wait to see it in action! None of this is possible without an outstanding group of Extension Agents who give of their time, experience, and love of 4-H. They helped make the week successful! This will be the best year ever! If your children aren’t in Texas 4-H, please enroll them and be a part of this amazing program! 🍀
Congratulations to one of our very own Titus County 4-H Members, Keelie Gibson, for being elected a District 4 4-H Council Officer for 2024-2025! We are so proud of you and all your hard work! 🍀
Thank you to Titus County 4-H Member Lilly Cameron and Mrs. Cameron for coming to speak with our Junior Master Gardeners about Honeybees today! We had a fun time learning all about bees and pollination today along with making a healthy snack made with honey.
Honey may be one of the only foods that can last nearly forever. Honey has even been found in Egyptian tombs and still been edible!

1st Day of JMG, special thanks to Beth being the leader. JMG made beaded name necklaces, learn about mono cot and dicots plants, hamburger plant, parts of plants and watching a caterpillar change into a butterfly. Special thanks to all the MG volunteers.
Sue and Roger Farr lead the JMG “Plant Needs” day last week. P for place, L for light, A for air, N for nutrients, T for time, S for soil and d that spells PLANTS. What are we missing, “W”? What do you think “W” stands for? Special thanks to all MG volunteers for all your help.
Special thanks to MG, Sharon Cowan for leading “soil” JMG class on Tuesday. JMG found insects in the soil. It was a fun filled day. Special thanks for MG volunteers!
Over time, honey may crystallize. This does not mean the honey has gone bad, it only means that the water in honey contains more sugar than it should naturally hold. All you have to do is place honey in a warm water bath to de-crystallize it.
